the originals were the best (red/blue) and yellow was pretty much the exact same but you got pikachu following you. when i got yellow i only caught and used the pokemon that ash had in the show. i would only let them evolve if ash let them. i raped faces with them too. i was a hard core pokemon fan... now i look back and say wtf??

The original 151 pokemon were the best. The 251 were eh. Anything after that (gold/silver) blows hard.
Gold/Silver. Loads of stuff to do and pokemon to catch without being too overwhelmed or overbearing (like any game after it). Red/Blue are classics, but Silver is really my favorite, one of the best experiences I've had on a handheld gaming system.
