I just got a new computer and now my x-fi card wont work i can hear the sound very very very faint but thats about it all volumes buttons and stuff are all on high but it still very faint. Anyone got any clue how to fix this


Mobo: Asus P5B Deluxe
CPU: E6600
GFX: 8800GTX
PSU: Corsair 620HX
Mem: Corsair 4GB
Sound: X-fi extremeGamer fatal1ty pro
HDD: 2x500GB seagate sata2
OS: Win XP 32bit

The sound doesnt work at all or just while playing Bf2? Check Windows sound settings.

none at all i can hear it very faint..but thats it. First i put in the drivers that came with the card then updated them with drivers from creative site but no luck

Is it selected as the default device for sound? Are you sure its been plugged in properly, the plugs etc, not the card...?

I had the same problem with mine, i had to go into the BIOS and turn off the onboard sound manually, generally it's the "delete" key, keep pressing it when you boot up, and search for onboard sound, and turn it off, be careful in the BIOS though, don't guess, make sure you know what you're turning off.

I've given up on sound cards.  Onboard sound is so good these days!  I know that doesn't help you much, but it's made my life a lot easier going with on-board.

Got the card working i had to switch pci place...
