Obama showed he can defeat a white woman and a white guy in the Iowa caucuses, but could he win against a white man in the presidential elections if he gets there? Could the presidential elections in the US be decided by the color of the guy running for president?

If the candidates are Obama and Huckabee, I hope Obama can win.

Just wait until someone starts saying something like "It's called the 'White House' for a reason" or whatever. I sincerely hope that Obama wouldn't lose based solely on his skin color, but it really wouldn't surprise me if it was a significant factor for some people.

Well, what most Dems don't realize is that the majority of Reps and independents are not racists. All parties have the few ignorant racist dorks but for the most part... of the small percentage of actual voters, there is a smaller percent of racists.
Personally, I will not be voting for Obama because while his "new direction" sounds like a good idea, he still would have the "old guys" advising him and not to mention he'd have to deal with the other two branches of govt. who are also the "old guys"
His lack of experience also worries me.

As for the Reps... I hate all of them as much as I hate the Dems.

Yes... I will be wasting my vote on him for obvious reasons. By wasting I mean he will not win and if he does... the same "old guy" thing will happen. I just agree with almost everything he says.

So, no. Obama will not lose because of racism. The other reasons are enough to do the job. Remember... it's just the beginning of the race.

From what I heard on the news Iowa is a predominately white state. If he is popular there he will probably do well in most of the other states.

I think there are plenty of people across the USA that dont want a black guy in the White House. I wanted Colin Powell to run for President (he is black) but he didnt, which sucks cause I think he would be a superb leader for this country.

I personally dont give a shit what color the guy is, as long as he is qualified and agrees with issues I am passionate about.
