Thats a lot of money there...

And Simpsons movie?  Why!?  I'm pretty sure animation can't get any more high-def than standard HD
Oh it can..

I didn't think so either.. but the other day, I was watching Family Guy in High Def, then I went to the normal channel playing the same episode, you could clearly see the difference.. Not as easily as if you were watching Football or Hockey, but you could still tell.
Yes you can. I however would not personally pick it though. That one was a gift. Uncompressed audio is another benefit as well. Providing you have a good system that is. I'm still working on integrating my media pc into my home theatre. I have been waiting for my dvr hard drive.. it's on back order .

Yes, and the difference between it and DVD is remarkable.
Especially if it is playing at 24p. Blu-ray is smoother than hd-dvd in the respect since blu-ray can play it natively (without having to compensate).

One of the best for sound. Video goes to the Pirates of the Carribean series, hands down. Anyone who has watched in on Blu-Ray knows what I am talking about.

As far as movies. My two favorite there are Training Day and The Departed.

er.. whatever the last one was. I actually had to update my firmware to play that movie. It was easy but weird that I had to do it for one movie.

Seconded. It is much better in High Def than even the theater.

I wonder who can name the most. Training day is completely covering one.. I'll tell you it's a trilogy. The one that is open will be difficult also.

I thought about that too lol

Departed
Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix
Pearl Harbor
Live free or die hard
Invincibles
Black Hawk Down
Patriot
300
Troy
The Guardian
Night at the museum
Simpson the movie
The Prestige
PotC 1, 2 and 3
Ocean 13
Training Day

that's all I can name :\

Now I am considering to buy some of these in Blu-Ray :
Pearl Harbor
Live free or die hard
Black Hawk Down
300

which ones are really worth it?

I saw 300 in Blu-ray on a really nice home theater setup. Was pretty spectacular. But then again, they did intentionally make it grainy...

It mainly depends on your setup in order to see a difference. The guy whose theater it was says that his projector wasn't high enough quality to fully take advantage of the blu-ray, so the difference is minimal compared to HD and regular DVDs.

BHD is good for sound but like 300 the picture is not very vibrant. It has it's moments but overall nothing spectacular. It doesn't have much to do with the resolution but rather the way the movies were shot (lighting, color..etc). Troy was another great all around movie in terms of Picture and sound. When Achilles is storming the beach it's crazy cool. Arrows were flying all around my room and the blood was jumping off the screen .

Most projectors do not have a very high contrast ratio. That's what gives you that "pop effect". It is also why Plasmas fell behind LCD's.
