You can't call all 360 games boring. Well you can, but it just invalidates your opinion.ELITE-UK wrote:

I think it was just pure greed. Great to see more competition for them seeing as they had it so easy for the past few years.

I'd say pricing is a huge factor. When the Wii, 360, PS3, DS and PSP first came out here in Australia, their prices were 400, 600, 999, 199 and 400 respectively. Even now, the PS3 is still over $600, and the Wii is something like $300.

Most people have DVD players already, so what's the point in your gaming console having one too? And Graphics aren't everything, look at all the people who hate Crysis...
Nintendo is doing something different, and it's working. Their systems are fun and affordable. And all the "they only make kid games" stuff is bullshit. If you think that, clearly you aren't aware of the games available for the wii and ds.
Plus the Wii helps patients move around so they can regain movement.OmniDeath wrote:

You get fed up with the crap associated with the PS3/360 so you throw things at your television until you tire out, run out of projectiles, or break the TV.=NHB=Shadow wrote:

As an owner of both a Wii and DS, I can say their winning on a combo of cost, great game lineup, and innovation.
Yes the 360 has great games, no doubt about it, however most people I know own both a 360 and a Wii. 360 is fun, well priced, and has a great games library, hence being the only console even close to Nintendos dominance.
Now the PS3, its falling behind in some seriosu ways.
1st Price - The $600 price tag throws it out of many kids and adults budgets, you may be better in all aspects then your competitiors, but technologic advances are not going to make people shell out the cost of two other systems for one.
2nd - Games. PS3 has very few good title for it. A whole slew of originally exclusive titles are being ported, giving people the same game, on a cheaper console(or pc as the case may be). What few good games coming out in the coming months will be either the turning point for the system, or its death. If they don't get more console sales, developers are going to turn their backs on the PS3 much like what happened to the Gamecube. No games = No sales
Now to the PSP. Want to know why it doesnt sell? Crappy controls and terrible games. Ive played the PSP a few times, the controls for most games are simply terrible. In a combo with a terrible game, it just furthers the reason not to buy it. Yes it has all sorts of fancy features, and *gasp* UMD support!. UMDs stopped being made haven't they? So what does it have now? For its giant price tag on launch, and Nintendo already having a grasp on the handheld market for over a decade, and its terrible game lineup, how could you not see why its failing?
Bottom line is: Sony is pushing better technology, but leaves behind the core aspect. Games. People want something that will play games first and foremost. If I wanted an mp3 player, i Would have bought one. If I wanted to watch movies on the go, id but a portable dvd player with a 9" screen for the same price as the PSP. Sony is pushing technology and prices beyond what the average consumer wants.
Microsoft and Nintendo are putting the gamers first. Their consoles are designed to play games, not watch movies, or be a super computer.
To anyone who thinks im bias, I own a PS2, one of the best systems ever made. Where did Sony go so wrong? I really thought the PS3 would have done alot better. But Sony didn't learn from their errors on the PSP. Overpriced, not good launch titles, and a terrible smattering of games thus far. If Sony doesn't figure out a plan, their might be a new Sega in town.

I think one of the big reasons the wii sells so much is because it is so appealing for non gamers.
A lot of gamer buy one for the novelty so they get those sales...but there is a huge group of people out there who don't wanna sit down and push buttons on a controller. I don't know how to explain it really but I some what understand. Wii lets them play fun interactive games with out having to pound on little buttons sitting on their couch hunched over a controller.
Nintendo allows people to interact more physically with the game for those who are intimidated or uninterested in computing/gaming. My mom even keeps asking me about these, I think she really wants one.

If you want to exercise you get of your ass and do it properly.
Consoles are for relaxing and unwinding.
The Wii is cheap, has a gimmick and actually has a good game out now (Super Mario Galaxy). The PS3 on the other hand has merely the brand name behind it at the moment. Its only appeal would be that there's no monthly subscription for online play but even then it costs a bomb. It's a story as old as time. Young Jimmy wants a "next-gen" console and gets the cheapest. His classmates want to get a "next-gen" too and try out the Wii at Jimmy's and really like it. Soon enough, you have 30 kiddies with Wiis.

Not everyone knows what a blue ray player actually does
Not everyone knows that HDMI exists
The ones that do know that it exists don't know what it does, unless they do know O.o
Wii controller = 'revolutionary', it appealed to many people as being new and fun, unlike the 'boring' controllers of the Xbox + PS3
Its a family console, thus more likely is it to be bought than consoles pretty much dedicated to people between 13 and 30.
EDIT: And the Wii, was when it came out by FAAAAAAAAAAR the cheapest console you could get.
