Hi all. Haven't played bf2 for several months. I came back and tried to play and say 4 or 5 minutes into the round I crash to desktop. I tried different servers and different maps to see if it was a bug, but it happens every time. There is no particular place or thing I was doing when it happens, it just happens. I searched on the forums and found a couple things to try, but it still happens. I did a complete reinstall of bf2, and updated punkbuster. The punkbuster update fixed one problem but then the crashing started. That's when I did the complete reinstall, Ver 1.41 I believe is the latest patch? Anyway to the good part. At first the crashes were just to the desktop. after a couple tries the crashes not only went to desktop but appeared in the DOS color format! It looked like I was playing Bard's Tale on the Commodore 128 again LOL!  PC still functioned fine, no lockups and what not and upon reboot ran flawlessly. As a matter of fact it still runs UO and Voyage Century Online just fine. I am assuming it is my GPU, but it always ran the game fine in the past and still does for a few minutes. All the fans are running fine but I don't have a program to monitor the temp. Can anyone help me figure this out? Now don't laugh at my set up, I built it on my own on a very limited budget.

Abit VT7 motherboard
GeForce 5500 OC 256Mb AGP
Intel P4 3.4 GHz processor
RaidMax 520w psu

You can monitor your Temp in BIOS on any system, I believe.

Try Single Player, see how that goes.

Thank you for the input. Don't know how I didn't notice that my GPU didn't meet the requirements. Ran so well for so long I never considered that. Oh well, that's why we have these forums, right? Nothing like a valid excuse to give the wife so I can go buy better toys! Thanks to all and Merry Christmas! Off I go to Fry's!

You are welcome, all that playing on a graphics card that could barely handle it may have burned it out... it would make sense to me.
