Most likely because it isn't actually true.
How so?
I read they didnt make a big thing of it because they didnt see it as a big thing, they just link there comps to make a huge internet for easy file sharing.

Did they? i thought it was the UK cos od our great naval power at the time. But I take my hat of to the Arabs for that one then.
Got to be the greatest contribution of all time.
Great Britain had almost no naval power until 1588...

But yes, hats off to the arabs for creating the compass, so that my ancestors could pillage the french coastline!
actually the chinese invented a device that pointed magnetic south before the arabs made the compass we know today.

A britisher, an american and a pakistani person are talking about what their respective countries have done contributing to technology....one of them says that the deeper you dig and find something that older it is.......so all 3 start to dig. 100 meters down the brit finds a telephone and says "see, we had telephones 100 years ago"....the american digs 200 meters, finds a cell phone and says "see, 200 years ago we were using cell phones"....the pakistani digs 300 meters, and finds nothing...turns to the other two and says

"See, 300 years ago we were wireless"

Not the case. The WWW was invented by Tim Berners Lee (a Brit working at CERN). The WWW is not the Internet however, the framework of which had already been put in place by the US military - ARPANET.

My personal favorite is the transistor, upon which nearly all computers today are built. Yes, the Brits came up with the binary computer (thanks Alan Turing), but what made it ubiquitous was the solid-state transistor and the integrated circuit board (both from the US).

It was a Brit (William Shockley) who came up with the transistor too. The BJT at any rate.
