So where do you aim when shooting at a tank? Lately i have been dieing from one shot from another tank when it hits the top of my tank. but i cant seem to do the same. i usually go for the tracks or butt.
Usually the treads.

so... many... innuendos...
You can actually kill the tank with one shot from another tank, but I can't find the link that shows where it is. If you hit it just right in the front it will glance off the body and into the turret.
I spent a while testing this, and it is possible to score a one hit kill if your shot hits the seamGGF0RCE wrote:

edit: front to front, your shot has to hit the very side of the seam between the turret and the body, so that any farther would miss, and you can get a one hit kill.

Ok I finally found it:
Ever realised how the M1 on the secrets of battlefield link is the old version that wasn't put inot the game? u can tell cos theres a smoke discharger above the cannon. Its featured in the screenie on the back of the bf2 box.
yeah someone posted that ages ago....i've never been successful, so I just aim for the tracks every time.
In my opinion situation awareness, spotting the enemy tank first, shooting (and hitting) from long distances and using cover are more important things in a tank vs. tank battle than being able to perform the one shot kill.
Tracks = 50% damage, every time...
1 hit kill is hard to achieve regularly, although you do come up against guys who seem to do it every time...
1 TOW to the tracks will also do the job.
Also, I lol'd...http://www.secretsofbattlefield.com/tankshits.html

This is definitely better then exploiting something against the M1A2 that the T90 doesn't have to worry about. Or, can you do the same to the T90?GameOver wrote:

Edit: I would like to add though, if your in the Abrams, and you know of this exploit, and facing somebody trying to use it against ya, (This might seem obvious) but just DONT face the body of your tank towards them. Angle to the side or stay on the move etc etc.

Nature is a powerful force. Those who seek to subdue nature, never do so permanently.
Yesterday on =SF= EF server, I discovered the T-90's sweet spot for a two shot kill!
With the turret facing forward, shoot it in the back between the flat part in the rear. Hit there and the shell will ricochet making the T-90 smoke. Another hit anywhere and it's fried.
As for the EF tanks, haven't gotten to that yet.

That Leopard tank on Great Wall kicks ass. Love how it looks.Cyrax-Sektor wrote:

Too bad EU didn't get their own APC, AA and bomber as well. That'd be really cool!Im_Dooomed wrote:

The sweet spot is right below the cannon, and above the main body. However, I usually aim for the treads, especially if I get the first shot. If the tank is all up in my face, then I'll go for the sweet spot. Usually I just play it safe, though.
I always aim for the front/rear of the tracks = 2 hit kill.
1) Its easier to hit
2) Can be done to any tank, so no need to worry what team you are on or vehicle you are driving
3) Its a spot that most tankers dont cover up/protect/block from your view
4) Works for SRAW's
5) 1 hit kill from a TOW
6) Is easier to hit at longer range rather than a spot under the turret
If you can get a 1 hit kill, great, but its not something that I care too much about or ever attempt for that matter.

Back end or the front or rear of the tracks.
Otherwise, just check the BF2S wiki. Lotta useful tactical guides there. And there's the AT-ing guide in the techniques section here.
