First, I want to say that I'm posting this technical issue in the CoD4 section because this issue is specific to this game. I have no problems with other games.
My issue is this: I get unbelievable lag in multiplayer. The game runs beautifully in SP, but then I switch to MP and I literally can't function because my lag is so bad. My connection (according to speedtest.net) is just above 4 mb/s and my ping is usually under 50 on the servers I play in, so I can't understand where this is coming from. Multiplayer ran very well until yesterday when I got a BSOD crash and after lettering my PC sit for a few hours, I fired it back up, did some casual stuff (email, internet, porn, the usual), and decided to give CoD4 another try. When I started the game up, a note came up saying the game recognized that it did not end properly last time and gave me the option to play in safe mode(which basically changes your visual settings to the lowest possible), which I did for a while, but eventually changed my settings back to normal. This is when the lag started and made the MP part of the game unplayable. I reinstalled the game and all and it worked fine the first few rounds I played, but then after getting off and on again, the lag started again. I'm sort of at my wits end here, so thanks for any help.
