A bank robber dubbed the “leprechaun bandit” has been sentenced to 14 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Richard Earl Kemp, 27, of Fort Worth, was sentenced Friday and ordered to pay $5,099 in restitution, said U.S. Attorney Richard Roper’s office. Mr. Kemp had pleaded guilty in August to two counts of bank robbery.
Mr. Kemp was accused of committing bank robberies in Fort Worth between April and June. He was accused of a Compass Bank robbery on April 2 and a Washington Mutual Bank on April 5, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He admitted to an April 16th robbery at a Wells Fargo Bank and a June 5th robbery at a Washington Mutual Bank.
He was the dubbed the “leprechaun bandit” because he wore a baseball hat with a shamrock and a leprechaun.
