CoD4 Install Error Message Help

Well I got Cod4 as an early Kwanzaa present and I'm having a bit of trouble with the install. I pop in the disc and the pre-loader comes up fine, but when I hit the "Install" button, I get this error message :

Does anyone know what's wrong here or what I need to do to fix this?

Says there somthing about contacting the developer for a different dll file. Try Activision?

Try

going through my computer, select the drive that has the cd, right click, look for explore cd, and select and run the setup.exe

I actually just got off the phone with an Activision Support worker. After giving him my system specs, he had me run msconfig and make sure all unneeded processes and services weren't running. After a fresh restart I tried to install, but it still didn't work.

I tried to do this shortly after writing the thread, but no luck. I still got the same error message.

It didn't work. I installed the first update, restarted, tried to install game, didn't work. Did the same thing for the other one, same story. I'm about ready to put all my music on an external hard drive and reformat the damned thing.

do you have any programm instaled that changes the apperence of windwos? such as CrystalXP or flyakite! unistaling such a program would probably solve ur problem

The thing is, I searched for the program, but I can't find it now. Any ideas?

Edit: actually I found it. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Installing now!
