No Sound

I had to completely format a hard disk and reboot Window XP home on it the other day, but atm, it's using the inbuilt rappy speaker, and no sound from speakers. Can anyone tell me what to do please? Any info that u need, I'll try to give.

Install the sound drivers that probably came with your motherboard/computer on a CD.

thats the problem, I had to make a re-install disc of another machine and do it like that. It's a Dell PC, didn't come with the discs

With no discs at all? Every computer comes with discs :S

Well, try to find out what kind of soundchip your motherboard has, then download the drivers for it from the internet.

And it didnt come with any reboot discs for the OS, jus application discs

allong the application discs should be a disc with dell software, including sound drivers. Just check.

Dell don't send you any of that stuff. Its all preloaded. When the HD went in my Dell they had to send out all that stuff with the new HD. Didn't bother installing most of it though as it was mostly annoying stuff like Dell support.
