Another Glock is also an option. Subcompact Glocks are chambered for .40, 9mm, .357, .380 and also .45. The summum remains the Glock 29, subcompact 10mm auto; very small, very effective and the 10mm has better balistics (more stable bullet trajectory) than the .45

Revolvers are known for reliability. I'd say if you ever want something just when you need it, a revolver is what you'd want. Some guy was also telling me that when I told him I wanted a gun for self defence around the house etc.. just incase. I don't think you'd need a .357 super magnum that blows them to Kingdom Come. Just get a standard 9mm one that's reliable and call it a day.

(kaboom! - uncontrolled detonation - basically blowing the cartridge and gun apart) due to the lack of support around the cartridge while it's in the breach.

dunno man, if you hit someone in the head/neck w/ it they going down. Ten of them in the chest will stop anyone (close range of course, most situations when she would use it would be cqc).

Yea, I don't make any of the ammo for my glock. I think I am going to take her out and let her shoot the Walther p22 this weekend. I want her to have something that is easy to draw from the car. Some that is to big would be easy to get hung on the shifter, steering wheel, etc. The cartridge is really secondary because I think anything at that close of range would do enough damage for her to get out of danger.

I love my p22! hella fun to shot and pretty accurate even with the short barrel. it came with the laser sight too. I alos have the g22 rifle.

If you are looking for a small pistol for the Mrs, then consider a Glock 26 or a Baby Eagle.

The Glock is small, concealable and easy to shoot. The Eagle is small and packs a punch. I've shot both, I preferred the Baby Eagle but then again, I have big hands, for your wife (who I assume has small hands), the Glock 26 is perfect.

29/26 same size, if you take a subcompact Glock and pick one of the heavier calibres, it packs quite a punch as well.
