@Topicstarter: Because America is the economical and military superpower of the world and we don't like it when they just do whatever they feel like. Whatever America does usually influences the rest of the planet.

I think many inside the US are confused about that too, Duhbya for starters.
That and it's blatantly wrong. I mean we all know that Australia > The world.
LOL! The Aussies are cocky SOB's arent they!

I am an American and I love my country but I dont think its fair to say that America is better than say. . .  Norway, cause I have never been there yet.  I have been to alot of places, and yes, the USA is better for the most part.  That doesnt mean the USA is the best in all catagories. . .

Its pretty ignorant for someone to say somewhere is better when they havent been to both places to make a judgement!

Good post. America, or at least what I've experienced of it, is great but it's different strokes for different folks. Like steve says unless you've been everyone and experienced it all you can't really make the claim that one place is the best ...and even then it would just be your subjective opinion.

Technically, if it wasn't for Europeans, Americans wouldn't be like you are, like, because alot of the settlets were British, French and Spanish, alot of Americans are decendants of Europeans right? Or am i wrong?

Because they refuse to give up their notions of what a government should be, the ones that have failed to come up with the same results as individual freedom has produced.

A recent demographic study found that almost 97% of Americans were descendants of the French.

so are the people in europe. i dont hate the US, nor do i dislike it, its just that certain actions taken in the past have made your country look like shit. i know a couple of americans, all nice people, all able to talk about their country without this "we-are-thegreatest-fuck-you-all" attitude. however, im sorry to say this, but the majority of americans i have met are dumb when it comes to world affairs and reflecting their actions. i mean, if you love country, why would u say things like "we are better than the rest"? treat others the way you want to be treated and stop complaining!

What I meant is that the europeans are constantly trying to infuse the United States with old ideas & systems that never worked & have been proven not to work through history. They are obsessed to know why we are so successful & the answer is individual freedom.
We are the current beacon to the world, the model of how things should work. I admit we do have problems that need tweaking but for the most part we're on the right track.
Hope that clears things up a little.
On a side note I'm part french canadian so I guess there's something to the survey, my other half is descendant from the white russians.

We ain't trying to infuse anyone with anything mate. We don't export political systems except to those on the European subcontinent. And very successful we have been too. The pinnacle of political development in my mind are the welfare states of Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. We have plenty of individual freedom over here, you seem to think this is some kind of police state (no phone tapping here). If you are the 'beacon of the world' then why do many countries respond in a virulently opposed manner to your interventions: Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq, any number of Latin American nations....

Europe is just as much of a success as the US is: and that's after having been brought to near destruction but 60 years ago.

It had to be, I'm not as stupid as other people look. What finally would have given the joke away, is the difference in attitude between the two "people".

The french are temperamental and refuse to speak any other language than their own, while the Americans..

..wait, let me try again.

The French have a capitalist right wing leader who decisively leads the country to a class society while the Americans..

..dammit. I give up.

[/generalisation]

I'll leave D&ST now..

to be honest, i think this whole "european vs. USA" thing wouldnt exist if the us at times would simply admit to have made mistakes in the past as well, just like any other nation did. and perhaps dont put so many stupid us citizens on tv shows, u have smart ones, take them.

It's none of your business what goes on internally within another country. A lot of people disagree with the American model of government, mainly because it trades average living standards for pure economic progress. The people of Venezuela have democratically voted in a firmly socialist leader twice in a row. They evidently don't see the US as 'their beacon'. The path Chavez appears to be taking them on seems ill-judged, but it's their choice.

Except for the native Americans, they ALL are descendants of Europeans. (Okay, and maybe some Asians too and Africans and etc.)

this whole Europe vs USA doesn't exist, at least how the media portrays it sometimes...

USA gets bashed a lot because they're a big player (biggest) if we (The Netherlands) fucks something up, then we cares about that freaking small country north of Estonia (yes yes American Geography )

anyway even tourism to the USA from The Netherlands rose with 24%, not everyone hates the US
