Begin rant: A while ago my roommate told me about a program available for download through my schools website. The program is Ruckus, which is basically a program that lets you download a lot of music for free, but LEGALLY. So, since torrenting and all other forms of P2P downloading don't work because of the cursed firewall here, I thought "hey, why not, I'm not going to be getting music any other way" and I got it. The first few weeks I had it, I couldn't have been happier. The downloads were fast and numerous. Then I found out that Ruckus modifies the song file in a way that prohibits you from transferring the music onto external devices (CD's, mp3 players, everything). Oh well, at least I can still listen to it on my computer, right? WRONG. They give you some sort of temporary license to even play the music at your own fucking computer. So now I've downloaded a few gigs worth of their music and I can't even listen to it here. Even worse, some of the music is integrated with the rest of my library, so I'll have to go through my entire music collection to weed out a few hundred songs. Let this be a warning to all you current and future college students, DON'T GET RUCKUS. It's a cheap substitute for illegal downloading that will only last for a short amount of time. Having tried to go clean, I can't wait to go back to downloading things illegally where the music lasts, and you can listen to it at places other than in front of your computer. FUCK YOU RUCKUS.
