IS this sort of confusion over EULA and ToS etc normal for an online FPS.

Or have EA/DICE not foreseen the shit that has been bought about by the game, and its ranking/ ts system.

I wasn't wiped for being on a server with stat padders, I was wiped because my stats were a little too good for the average noob so I must be a PADDER.  Thats as far as I can tell anyways, unless EA gives me an e-mail.

maybe 95% of the players who got reset dont even know why it happened to them? (the percentage could be sort of too high, but im sure there are a quite amount of players dont know why they got reset.) EA doesnt give u a detailed reason. they just send u an email saying "u violated the rules" then ur stats are gone. thats simple.

as i said in the other thread, EA is the communist in gaming community. pretty obvious. remember EA's slogan... er.. "EA... Reset everything"?

You DO NOT agree to the "BF2 ranked ROE" when creating an account. You agree to the EA TOS, the IGN Privacy Policy, and the IGN User Agreement.

if you are playing on a server with a BH, and have one person as support, and another person continuously tosses grenades out 'trying to hit people on the ground' does that count as stats padding? (there are times while doing this that you actually are trying to hit things, but other times just throwing to give someone else points)

it's exactly this kind of ambiguity that makes most of the attempts at defining 'normal' playing from 'unacceptable playing', "exploits", etc, a load of crap. If you're not inside an unenterable building, or using an aimbot, then defining 'unacceptable play' is a matter of taste, and therefore totally bullshit to at least  some players. Apart from fixing bugs and eliminating the efficency of third-party hacks, I wish they'd stop fucking with this game, it's fine as it is. Who the hell cares if some guy sat upside down in a boat for 30 minutes? Seriously: if you find yourself caring about this, you're most of the way to the same brain-death that makes people actually spend that amount of time doing it.

I've put in a request to EA about his stats, and as it's the weekend I wont get an answer for a few days..

one thing that amazes me is..

players find out that knife/pistol revive is stat padding..  some still do it, I busted a whole clan server today for it..

so for the most part the players deal with knowing the knife revive thing will get then reset..

so what do they do??

they move on to turning boats upside down and stat pad

and the list continues..

then when players get reset for knowingly doing something OUTSIDE the normal game play, they scream witch hunt and blame my admins and program for getting them reset, when it was them in the first place that cause their own troubles...
what amazes me about the people who got caught cheating (and their accounts reset) is that they keep posting in these forums over and over again proclaiming half truths about their situation. its like an election campaign where the candidates are the stat padders and glitchers who go around trying to raise public sympathy for their lost cause.

Few questions I have of my own....

Was playing on Saturday on one of nordic servers and played as a commander on wake as USMC. The team was winning and I was in charge. We took all flags, other than North Base and my guys surrounded enemy which fought back viciously. Since many of my men were there I was not dropping arty just spotting and UAV-ing. At some point, some guy (think he was admin) started saying that I should stop something or I will be kidked for cheating. I have a slight hearing problem, kind of disability of a kind, and I asked him to say once more - still I did not hear well and because I am typing - I wanted to ask him to type what he was saying but I was kicked. So on that little screen it came up that reason is CHEAT - could it be that they are considering cheating if you use UAV?! I think it was some clan server or something, but it could be that admin was in my team - what was that can anyone explain?! Is there a way to see where you played last - I would like to come on that server again, very good teamplay but also - want to get it straight what they consider cheating. I was not dropping arty on uncapable base or anything... I am just upset that I got kicked for no particular reason. I really try hard being nice... but it sometimes does not work...

This post hits the nail right on the head.  The "rules" for playing BF2 are subective NOT objective.

What's sportsmen-like for one player may seem ridiculous to another.  The ONLY reason why anyone complains about the stat padding practices is because of the rank "incentives".  Typical capitalistic greed is driving everyone to amass the most amount of points and awards.  But what do these 'riches' bring you? NOTHING.

Not respect.  Everyone accuses you of padding.  Not fame - INFAMY! Not the adoration of the BF2 community - the disdain for getting there first.  It's as if the competive nature of gamers has transcended the actual GAME and moved into the "stats" realm.  It's the BF2 community itself and the focus on stats that's made stat padding attractive.  WE'RE ALL THE ONES TO BLAME, whether we pad or not!  One of the posters in this thread actually said - there's no advantage to the WINS or LOSSES (the usual fodder for braggin' rights)- inferring that the other stats were MORE interesting!  What a crock.

PLAYING THE GAME is what makes it fun.  Like the previous Polska poster that I quoted, it's the spice of BF2 life that makes it fun.  Seeing a person flip a boat or Vodnik and continuously wrench away is hilarious.  Seeing a group of opposing teammates square off in a knife-only fight is entertaining (MINE! MINE!).  Performing continuos bombing runs from the Essex to the airfield on Wake and back again is what this KING OF THE HILL game is all about.  People are just looking for 'other' ways to enjoy the game and add to the experience.  Blatant stat padding IS silly, but if that how those players want to spend their time and gaming money.... more power to them.

I just hope those gamers know that getting to the top of the BF2 ranks doesn't earn you any REAL WORLD value or awards, let alone get your "nick" lazer imprinted on your own line of video card heat sink fans.

Since there are obviously a lot more things EA don’t want you doing other than those stated in the terms and conditions, I think we should form a list so that everyone is clear therefore avoiding anymore stats resets during this witch hunt.

Firstly I can add the following items:

- Changing to the winning team. (Yes poor Plus.Smiley was done for this)
- Using flash/grapple/zip too much. (Somebody was done for this, I think it was poor |Nerv|Raxor.
- Being in the same round where stats padding is taking place. (Poor Veng3nce was done for this one)

I don’t think we need to mention the obvious things such as stats padding just the obscure things that normal sane people wouldn’t even think would be wrong.

So basically the best thing you can do is always join the loosing team at the end of the round and never use zip/grapple/flash. Oh and its highly recommended that you don’t reach 2nd Lt. if you find yourself getting close to this rank then my advice is to team kill as much as possible to get your score down.

OMG NO !!!!   WHY WAS HE RESET JUST FOR THROWING 8K ZIPLINES IN AN HOUR!!! oh the injustice!

the funny thing is, those ppl who complain about statpadding, baseraping, bunny hopping, noobtoobing, etc, etc usually claim that they do NOT care about stats since they HAVE life. how ironic.

I cant believe there are actually some people who think this thread was to be taken seriously. Wasn’t it obviously a joke?

It was meant as a funny and exaggerated way of getting across a point, being that EA need to be more specific on what is and isn’t classed as acceptable in game.

Oh yea, here's a "screenshot" of the round in question in regards to stats padding. I say screenshot cause my friend literally took a camera and took a pic of the screen, instead of just a comp screenshot hehe.

I was either reset because of using the sub jeep to cross the atoll on Wake which I thought was legal or switching sides to stay with my squad.  We have a higher than average win loss ratio when we play together.

Either way I think EA's action in this regard is a little too extreme.

Indian's reference to making the game fair for ALL SKILL levels makes me nervous because it has been said to me by BF2RS that a group of highly skilled players playing on the same side especially if they are affiliated is unfair.  That using squad swapping tactics is unfair.  Repairing a BH while in flight is unfair.

That said I believe if I keep on playing with BSF and keep our average win ratio of 20/1 I will get reset again.

Having stats reset doesnt bother us because it doesnt interfere with play.   You get the unlocks you want quickly.  You have better stats because it wont include the times when you were new to the game.

I've scanned all 31 posts you have made on our forums and no such thing was ever said to you..

to make the game fair for ALL SKILL levels,

those who are new or not as good at the game dont deserve to compete with and have their chances of gaining rank and medals, by playing with someone who pads or exploits the mechanics of the game..

that is what the ROE is meant to do...

i hear what you're saying - i'm not even that good, but i get accused of cheating and threatened with kick/bans all the feaking time. if ea cracks down every time some kid who can't play well cries "cheater!", then this game will get so crap that no-one except for maladjusted 12 years olds will play it.

example: using an apc in the water (i.e. where spec ops can't walk up to you) to shell the island on Ghost Town while team mates took the flag, nearly got me banned for "spawn camping". This is absolute rubbish. We took that flag, and the whining continued because the tactic earned me 35 kills and 3 deaths in about 4-5 minutes. I was accused of cheating because i had "not made any effort to cap the flag", even though my squad took it (*slaps forehead, shakes head*). Soooo stupid. Not to tread over old ground, but there is no such thing as spawn raping a cappable flag. kids just whinge because they couldn't use their brains to counter the tactic of armour covering infantry during an assault.

You can't make the game "fair for all skill levels" precisely because there are differnet levels of skill. There are very few if any advantages to having "illegally" earned ribbons and badges - getting rid of "padded points" won't make poor players play better when they're getting owned by someone with much more skill. It's just a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME (and an insulting one at that to those who did things that are not in any way clearly "illegal" but are considered so by some) .

I completely disagree with the local server rules

I always bomb the enemy helo and jet pads, best tactic around

Kill the jet whores

I always use the blackhawk to cap flags,  Usually by myself

I always put C4 on my jeep

All great tactics and easily fair play

Unlike flying your helo over to the enemy helo because you spawn 20 seconds before everyone else and landing your helo right in front of the spawn point and shooting everyone who enters while you steal their helo, finding yourself upon being in the game more than a second half way through the game, 20 points behind
