I have bought a new monitor, and Installed + uninstalled bf2pro recently, but when I try to launch BF2 it simply changes to a black screen, changes the resolution, then goes straight back to desktop like before, as normal.

Any help would be usefell, thanks.

Heya, try this: Right click on your desktop, go properties, go settings, take a look at the resolution and remember it...then go to advanced, then click monitor to see your refresh rate...remember it.

Then go to  ?\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default

Then open Video.con with notepad and look for VideoSettings.setResolution   

Then manually change the resolution to something safe, like 800x600@75Hz, or your remembered resolution and refresh rate.

Load up BF2 and see how it goes.

Does it happen to other games? Specs? Changed anything else? Does your PC recognize your monitor?

no it is only this game and BF2 use to run fine until this problem just appeared

What sort of monitor is it? are the drivers installed for it? Does it appear in control panel/system as plug and play monitor or {brand name}?

its a samsung SyncMaster 913v and it appears as plug and play and the brad name. Yes the drivers are all installed because BF2 has worked for years and my other games do to.
