Yep, it war hard as hell but I did it. So many people bitched that it was too hard. I would like to thank EA for listening to the 18 and under crowd for helping nerf the ranking system. I still enjoy BF2 but it was more fun to earn various awards back then.

Regarding those awards that some people found rediculous, I think EA was intending that someone would purchase the game and be playing will into the next decade. I see no issues with that. It's that fun for myself.

Those are insane numbers to get....1000 hours for any award is to much. Hell 400 for vet tank is a lot. 750 hours for ground defense lol...yeah!

I remember being ultra pissed when I was a Lance Corporal and had like 9000 points and then BAM.. new rank system. Three instant promotions and not even satisfying.
Old requirements for Expert Knife/Pistol should be implemented again. I got them back then and it wasn't so uberhard as some would have you believe.

Same here, I got corporal with 10,500 pts, finally, woohoo, happy with the unlock . . . . next day: patch => within 2 minutes I gained three ranks . . . . . . nice going EA.

It's not the real war college ribbon, it's just one of the old awards that rewarded teamswitching.
and it's just a game, so quit making it sound like a holy shrine or something that it is not

Those numbers where just too intimidating. I saw them when I first bought the game in June 2006, and shit myself. I didn't want to have to commint my life to gain unlocks so I decided to avoid ranked play. Eventually I found that they lowered the requisites and I decieded to patch to 1.12, start a new account and see the rank system. The new ranks are fine, they are large enough to reward commited play but small enough to allow casual players acess to unlocks and awards.

yeah i got mine 2 days before the patch... i was hype and then after the patch i thought people were getting off easy...

I got the old War College Ribbon and the old expert knife. Both were tough- it took a very long time to get the expert knife- my knife kd kinda shows that. Then they nerfed it about a month later.

didn't the step up from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant also require basic badges in Knife and pistol and if you didn't have them you had to wait until you had the basics and the next rank up ?

thats the thing...I'd also love that with like 1000 or 1500 hours with each kit you'd get like one final really awsome unlock specialised for that kit...so then everone would know like, okay that guy is good at assualt , that one at sniper...and so on you'd really earn your place in the game i mean...because i dont think even a japaniese guy would play bf for 7000 hours to get all badges XD...."let the old days roll" or how ever it goes
