I own several Versions of the AK47. Its a "conscripts rifle " Not a " Riflemans " weapon.
The Yugoslavian is the best, well made. It seems like the magazines are magnetized to the magazine well. You get the Mag near and pop ! its in ! and properly seated.
The worst is the Norinco from China, Tuff to seat magazines, sharp and rough edges all over. Its so bad my suspicion is that they don't really care about there export products and keep the good ones at home. However this is what the USA always suspected about Russian Equipment. Now that we faced it, It really did suck. Its is made to be fielded by dogs who never held a weapon before. Really clunky. Some shoot strait some don't and its a hump to try and tune one. Don't bother just get another till you find a good shooter. Even the SVD is inaccurate relatively speaking. Its a "conscripts sniper, ( Heads Down ) rifle " Not a " Rifleman's " weapon
The M16 design is tighter well thought out ( but this nonsense of putting carrying handles on weapons has got to STOP ). It does seemed designed to purposely inject fowling into its mechanism and it's pretty dirty after just one round. It also is in need of a realistic battle cartridge. The battlefield is no place for a .22 caliber anything. The only advantage to the light fast .223 round is its easier to lead a moving target and fire comfortably if you are a girl or have a girls build.
A trained Rifleman can put out 7.62 or .308 rounds without discomfort. I realized the .223 NATO Round was designed to accommodate many nations who have no right to be armed and have never fired a weapon and will not once they are mustered out of service. But it has routinely let us down in battle.
All in all I am a fan of the L1A1 or FN FAL. I realize its heavy but it can knock shit down fast.
