Does anyone else think that the requirements for receiving the Distinguished Service Medal should be like the following?:

IAR : Team score of 45
25h Total time as Commander
100h Total time as Squad Leader
100h Total time as Squad Member

It's just a thought. IMHO most players probably don't wanna chuck 100h of just commanding in. Being a Squad Leader/Member/Lone Wolf should be the bulk of a BF2 player's gaming time. Therefore I believe that the commander requirements should be lowered.

Can't agree with this one, sorry.  I invested the time to get it as it stands, but I can understand your point

i think the 100 is good enough, i mean it takes some time but it can be done. so you just have to have to 100 hours.

Maybe not 25h as commander but like 60h, or else there isn't much effort needed to get that medal.

The commander time should be 50h as 25h is a very little amount.  It is just peoples playing styles, others may think that infantry time should be lessened.  BUT if I were EA I would change the commander time, as they tend to the masses, and make the majority happy again.

i dont mind it the way it is.

medals should be more challenging and time consuming than badges and ribbons.

when i got my war college ribbon, i had already put in 50 hours.  for expert command, i was at around 60 hours.  even though commanding is boring as hell now, i do it just to build up my time as commander so i can get the distinguished service medal soon.

I have all the requirements to get this medal just need 45 team score or is it 53 as indicated everywhere except UBAR.  What exactly is needed to get this team score?  I spent one map Friday racing around and capping/converting flags on Kubra Dam.  I ended up with an ending score of 164 (a gold thank you) and a score in the column next to that (that I thought was team score) 0f 90 or better.

Are team points just those received from revive/heal/re-supply and not to include capping and converting or defending flags?  Capping converting and defending flags was the bulk of my team score on that game.  I don't understand something here.

Whooo hoooo, finally got it.  It is 45 team points.  And they must just be Kill assist/heal/revive/resupply/repair/driver special ability points.  And not capture/capture assist/defend flag points that I had 90+ of Friday.

That takes care of my question!

I had my 45 team points the other day, but didn't get my D.S.M.! I forgot they could only be from

assist/heal/revive/resupply/repair/driver special ability points.

Trivia: if you spend 15 minutes as a commander 20 days a month, you will have 100 hours in 1.6rpt years.

More Trivia: It is silly to assign insane time requirements (400 hours? sheesh) to various awards, as it isn't necessarily representative of skill, but more marks you as someone with very little else to do.
