I made a thread about this about a year ago.

Sapphire ATi Radeon X1650PRO 256MB GDDR3 on AGP 4x bus
2.4GHz Pentium 4 512MB cache
2GB of non-DDR2, non dual-channel RAM
160GB Western Digital 7200 RPM 8MB cache ATA100

which was all upgraded on the same chassis and mobo from:

1.6GHz Pentium 4 256MB cache
Sapphire ATi Radeon 9600 256MB
512MB of RAM
120GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM ATA100 and I think it had a 2MB cache seeing as how it was so much worse in performance than my new one.

Lag has been nearly eliminated, I just need a new GPU fan so I don't crash playing BF2 after an hour and a half.

15" crt

I played on 5-15 fps in bf2/2142 under the names Menschdefekt and MisS_Un1vers3.

Now with an upgrade,
Intel Q6600
2gb OCZ specops DDR2 800

Well, everybody brags about how fast there pc is. Well who is playing with the slowest, oldest, rig out there.
If figure my rig might as well be as old as I am (45).

Mine:

AMD 3200 64 bit CPU
Soltek MB
GeForce 6600GT (128M vid card) DirectX 7 capable weeeeeee
1 Gig of Corsair XMS memory
19 inch CRT screen from late 90's
Corded keyboard and mouse (no wireless crap here)
80 gig HD

You fail. BF2 was written on a 6600GT. They are DX9 compatible. Even most GeForce FX (5000 series) series cards are DX9 compatible. If your card wouldn't be more than DX7 capable, you wouldn't be able to play anything but CS 1.6 and HLDM.

I currently run on something that's worse than your.

P4 Prescott 3GHz @ 3.6GHz
nVidia GeForce 6600
ASRock motherboard
2x512MB 400MHz DDR1 RAM
17" 12ms crap TFT
Logitech MX518 and G11
160GB SATA HDD

EDIT:

I have also ran BF2 on this computer. It fails.

AMD Athlon XP 1600+ @ 1600MHz, 1800+ speed.
nVidia GeForce FX5200
ASRock motherboard (ASRock suck ass!!! Got it for free)
768MB DDR333
15" CRT and 14", 30ms TFT
Microsoft crap wireless keyboard and mouse
2x20GB HDD.

It must surely be one of the slowest rigs that have ever played BF2. Unless it's this rig, that actually ran BF2!

Intel Pentium 3, 800MHz
GeForce FX5200
512MB SDRAM, 133MHz
Intel motherboard, AGP4x
Can't remember the accessories I used.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I know its DX9 capable but it's capabilities are poor at best. I tried it for COD2 at the lowest settings and absolutely had to change to DX7 for multiplayer.
