P51 Mustang
Spitfire was nice, but I've read that the elliptical wings made it a poor cornering aircraft compared to the Germans. It involved something regarding the vortexes at the wingtips that effected turning ability. It was more of a hit and run aircraft, similar to the Hellcat vs the Zero. The Hellcat was tough in virtually any area against the Zero, but pilots didn't want to get into a turning battle with them.
