My computer is now 3 or 4 years old, so i have decided to upgrade.

The items i have picked out so far are...

Motherboard - http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/Sea … CatId=2441

Processor - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … mp;subcat=

Graphics - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=927

Hard Drive - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=940

Power - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=148

Memory - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=813

DVD - http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/Sea … mp;CatId=0

Case - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =CA-065-AN

Total - £750 inc VAT - Roughly $1500

Would this be a good setup for the money? Do you know of any good items that would be better placed for the same amount of money if not cheaper?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to BF2s.

That setup looks pretty good.

I love the 900- a good choice there, but if I were you I would probably go more towards the Core 2 Duo's.  This is kind of unimportant, but i would also throw in an extra 120mm blue LED fan to go on the side window of the case. It just doesnt look complete without it.

i got an 8800gts evga in a mid tower case and it is too tight of a fit for my liking.  i'm getting a full tower in a few days.  for the same price as the 900 you can find a pretty descent full tower.  also, i really can't tell because of the small pic of the mobo, but my 8800gts is really close to my sata sockets and if you don't have enough room there will be clutter there.  something to think about.  also, your going to get flamed for getting an amd processor.  i'd go with intel c2d if i were you with an 650i or 680i mobo.  but thats just me.  i'm currently running an amd opteron and will be going intel as soon as i can (x-mas).

you should go with an e6850 and a P35 or 680i mobo. Rest is good though
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

Thanks for the replies.

The problem i have at the moment is money, i cant go over £750

And looking at some of the motherboards and processors you guys suggested, its bringing my total way past £800.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong things though, I'm not to smart when it comes to this kind of thing, do any of you think you could find me the best Motherboard and processor for my price range please?

Thanks

Okay! I've drawn together this system and I think that is fine! You might find that the components are cheaper elsewhere, too. Total price just comes under £750 so we are right on budget!

That is amazing, thank you so much.

As i already have a sound card that will work, i think ill bump up the Processor,

But this is confusing, the E6750 is £125 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=793

and the E6600 is £143 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=793

Is the E6600 better in some way that i cannot see?

Look here - go for the E6750!

Nah, E6750 is quicker, the chips that have 00 at the end of it are the older versions, not sure why there more expensive, there was a price cut like a week ago so perhaps they just havent caught up yet

Simply put, get the E6750

Don't get the OcUK card! Go with a better brand like EVGA or BFG. Much better warranty, comes with a lot of extra goodies and are usually much more reliable. Spend the extra £20 and get the EVGA or BFG.

OK, so Ive been over and over looking at this, ill get the EVGA or BFG, will 520W be able to run SLI? And is that motherboard even SLI capable, because i don't think it is, i need an SLI MB for the future when i get a second card.

Would this MB be better? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =MB-107-AB

520 should fine but I would see what else you could get for the money.  I would stick with a name brand too  Bought a no name and it blew my MB and itself up after six months.

OK so i have finally decided to get this MB http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =MB-107-AB

As it has SLI capabilities.

I have one more question, will i get the thermal compound that i put on the CPU, with my CPU or MB, or will i have to buy some separate?
