BF2S Forums Installed from disc, run 1.41 full patch, does nothing.

I decided to come back to the game after a long absence.  I installed BF2 at version 1.0.x and downloaded full patch 1.41.  I got these from EA, both directly and one other source.  Upon running it, an hourglass appeared for a second and then my screen resolution changed to 1024x768, and asked me if I was sure to keep the resolution.  If I hit no, it puts me at 800x600.  After that, nothing.  The patch does not install.  Ctrl Alt Delete shows that it runs 2 instances of the patch.  What should/can I do to fix this problem so I can install the patch and play the game?
