Yay got my new computer yesterday.

Going from 2.8GHz P4, 512MB ram, nVidia fx 5200

to

Intel Core 2 E6600 processor
Asus P5B-E Motherboard
2GB GSkill PC2-6400 Memory
512MB ReadyBoost Memory    <--- Can someone please explain what that is.
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 640MB PCIe Graphics
320GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Hard Disk
Samsung 18x SATA Dual Layer DVD Burner
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Soundcard
Premium 500watt PSU
Akasa Zen Black Case
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
19" Widescreen TFT Monitor
Logitech EX-110 Keyboard & Mouse Combo
Logitech S220 Speakers

is amazing. I used to have around 20fps now I get around 200-300. (on bf2)

At first I got an invalid CD key error but this fixed it

Apart from that I love windows vista, I don't know why loads of people complain about it.

If anyone was wondering this is my "Windows Experience index"

How much did that fetch ya? BTW, very nice, I'm jealous. My PC is still from 2005. Ancient tech already. LOL.

Look really nice compared to your previous comp. Btw how's vista? Better than xp? Resource usage? And how are the speakers, do they make humming sound when turned on but not in use?

Hi Peter. That is a nice system you have there! I'll go through a quick run down of the components for you:

Processor: I hope you got it at a good price!
Motherboard: Good brand, good board.
RAM: Can't go wrong with 2GB of 800MHz RAM!
ReadyBoost Memory: Take a read here.
Video: Nice card - that should keep you going for a while!
Hard Drive: Is this your only one? I thought 300GB was massive but I've filled it all up!
DVD-RW: Can't go wrong with a SATA DVD Burner!
Sound: Good choice of sound card.
PSU: I hope (for your sake) that it IS a good branded PSU.
Case: You got a very cheap case with some great components.
OS: Vista ftw!
Monitor: What brand?
Peripherals: Not 5.1? Not the best mouse and keyboard either but all right I guess - as long as it suits you!

Overall, you got a pretty good system. I would of invested in a nicer case though

With that monitor you might've been better off with a GTS 320MB. 640MB seems a bit like overkill for a 19" monitor (unless it was a 19" CRT @1600x1200 of course). You could've got a better 320MB version and got better performance for cheaper.

I know you're all gonna kill me but I bought a pre-built system *hides behind sofa*

But I don't see how (unless you're in America) you can get all those parts including OS and monitor for £1000.

The monitor is I-INC, no, I've never heard of it either, but it displays well  and I'm happy with it.

I know the case and PSU is shit but it was pre-built so I couldn't do much (apart from change the colour of the case )

If you're interested I got it here
It was PCAdvisor's Number 1 £750-£1000 PC

Damn, you got a 5.3 with those specs? My video card's better, and with my CPU un-oc'ed I got a 5.3 also. I OC'ed it to 3.2 and got a 5.7, though.

can't remember what my system rating is.

I'm on a dual boot system until vista sorts itself out with games..

Vista is £180. I am no pirate.

Is that including VAT and monitor?

Its including OEM Vista, VAT and a monitor. Plus the speakers and desktop bundle are better.

I guess, then I can buy a mighty system and everyone can be jaelous muhahahahah!
I'm still gonna buy games that I can't run on my comp and keep them for when I can run them at full power.

I have Home Premium 64 bit, and tbh I honestly love it. The only problem I've had with it is Garry's Mod/CSS/DOD:S crashing, but that's probably because Steam needs to update them and it's not vista's fault.

I like it much more than XP for the added features, aero, speech recognition, the new look, the "experience" rater, the access of programs is much easier, and the further security. I hate how people bash on it but probably have never experienced it more than a few minutes.

Actually yes. But I think it might just be the subwoofer. Thanks for pointing that out...

Its the general hum of the speakers. I've got Vista and my JBL ones (without sub or amp) are fine.

Mine do that, the speakers make weird sounds, i move the sub woofer a bit, and it goes away.
