Yes you can kill someone through the cockpit winshield of a chopper with a 50 cal MG, I have done it once. No BS.
True dat, I killed a chopper pilot on Wake with the .50 cal mg mounted on the back of the jeep. He was flying low and slow and coming right at me when I gunned him down, so he made it pretty easy but I was shocked when he died without the chopper exploding. The now empty Helicopter just kept flying and veered right over my head before crashing into a nearby building.
I was kicking myself later for not trying to jump into the chopper and steal it before it ever hit the ground...

PLENTY of times i have shot pilots out with the Jet cannons and .50cal from the jeeps. ive had it happen to me at least 3 times as well

Anything can kill a aircraft crewman. Hitboxes + lag + code = failboat.

Wow. This thread really does contain a wealth of information on how to shoot down a chopper. I wish I'd read it earlier, I've just been trying to kill them with AA guns. Silly me.
BTW .50 cal is the next best thing if you're on the ground (unless you want to TK for the attack chopper in which case, yeah, that sniper thingy will do the trick). The .50 cal takes 'em down surprisingly fast actually.
