first, i thought this would be the section that would get the most responses, but if the mods feel like there is a better section, please move it.

ok, so as some of you know, i make knives for a living.
i am going to really pursue a website in the near future, but i need a HUGE amount of pictures.
anyone who has seen the pictures i take now knows that they are not the level of quality i need.

my first step in this is getting a good camera for the purpose. so does anyone know a good camera for taking pictures of items at very short distances? im not looking to get a EOSrebel2900leetsauce type thing, but i do need something with some quality.

my second question, has anyone ever used a light box while taking pictures?
if so, would you recommend one?

any other advice would be much appreciated.

The camera of course will depend on how much you want to spend. You probably want to get a Digital SLR (funds permitting). Be sure to pay attention to what comes with the camera when checking prices, lenses often cost more than the camera. I bought a Canon Rebel XTi a couple months ago and have been very happy. I have three lenses, the standard 18-55mm (it came with), a telephoto 75-300mm, and a 17-40 mm ultrawide lens. The standard lens performs very well considering the price, but mark my words you will want a telephoto . The others I have are awesome... but lets just say the company paid for them $$.
