(Could'nt sleep) I say HK416/417. I know the XM8 project was canceled but i still think it would've been better then the current guns. I like look and design of those guns.(And the HK417 maybe able to use AK47 mags like the Scar-H) So what do you guys think/suggest?

- What gun should the US Military adopt as a replacement to the M16/M4?
M4 is just fine...and they should bring back the M-60.
Well not from the stories i've heard.usmarine2005 wrote:

Hell yeah! The M60 is the ownage! Why oh why did they replace it with the M249?
I think the H&K 416 would be an awesome choice. Its a lot more reliable under punishment from what I've seen and read about. If I had a choice after that I would probably go with the SCAR-H in .308.
Israeli IMI Tavor TAR-21, 5.56 or 7.62 converted. Great urban combat weapon and deadly to 300m. If they were to replace it this is the way I would go as US seems to be engaging in more urban based combat operations. Plus who knows more about fighting Islamic fundamentalists than the Israelis.

True true. Most marines wish they had .308 guns like the Insurgents(Take em down in a shot or 2 not 3 or 4 with the current .223 rounds)Velker wrote:

You guys have to remember the stockpiles of NATO ammo before you suggest new weapons.
Tavor fires NATO 5.56mm. Winning so far.
Yeah they do have alot of .308 rounds left over from the FAL's dont they? Also does'nt the M14 have the ability to pick up 47 rounds like the Scar-H?usmarine2005 wrote:

a potato gun. but seriously....bring back the uzi.
No, the M-14 uses the same cartridge as teh M-60. Plus, M-14's use a straight mag, not banana curve.David.Podedworny wrote:

Muskets
He said rounds, not magazines when referring to the M14. And what blocks it would be the magazine housing...David.Podedworny wrote:

M4/M16 just with 6.8mm ammo. Let the SAWs eat the 223.

I'd go with the H&K416 as well. I've seen some test vids of it, like the modular nature of the design, and note that it's really just an evolutionary step in the M4/16 lineage.
Fook it, we give everyone an M24 and 40 claymores and let them either spend days in the bushes or let them run straight at the enemy with a claymore.

Give foreigners another reason to despise the US? No way man.RDMC(2) wrote:

It is with FF off right? Plus, 40 isn't enough.
G36. Is there a better gun to use when fighting in cities in the middle east?
MP7, no barrel sticking out. Don't really need super-high-powered guns in close combat.Sup3r_Dr4gon wrote:

M14
Ah, a man after my old CS heart! I think this was my second favorite weapon in the world back then, the first being my good looks. Hey-yo!!<SharpShot> wrote:
