Curry is a mixture of seasonings that I think has to include turmeric. The other ones can vary. There are as many different types of curry as there are combinations of seasonings. And if you want to see the difference, assuming that you've had chinese take away before, go to a teppanyaki resteraunt. Entertainment AND great food! While this isn't showing you the real difference, its the best you can do to convince yourself without going to both countries.
