in the past 3 weeks I've been unable to play BF2 properly. My ping has barely been what it should be because of non-stop lag spikes. I also suffer from this in CS:S, but a hell of a lot less, yet it still gets much worse in the evenings. It has persisted through not only a complete reformat, but a new OS altogether (XP -> vista)

I get between 1 to 3 spikes per second, most of them only minor. They throw my aim all over the place and make me stutter while walking. My ping hovers around 100-150 while the spikes keep coming (instead of less than 30)

I have, however, been able to download without problems. I've gone through my fair share of GB's in the past week and not one .rar has been corrupted. If my downloads were suffering from the same kind of loss/spikes I'd think they would be full of errors, right?

So, ideas? solutions? I was thinking of getting the IP of a BF2 server that's giving me trouble and seeing if my ping fluctuates like it does if I ping it with command. (also, what's the command for that again?)

Contact your ISP. Do some tracerouting, to different IP's and see what you come up with.
