First, I searched and didn't find what I was looking for.

My question is if custom maps would cause any problems as far as PB and your in game settings? I run everything stock the way it came the day I bought it. I've have not added or altered anything in the slightest and want to keep it that way. Is there a risk installing custom maps and then getting booted or banned by PB for something in a custom map? Just a concern and would like to know.

Custom Maps do not, in any way, shape, or form, affect your game.

The only way a custom map could affect your game, is if you download a map which would overwrite a EA Map- for instance, if you downloaded a map called Strike_at_Karkand and added it to you Levels folder, if would overwrite the existing (and "proper") Strike at Karkand. If you were then to join a server running Strike at Karkand, you would get an error message- you would still not get banned by PB or anything.....

So basically, make sure you do it as a separate mod.
Make a new folder, copy the contents of the 'bf2' folder in the mod directory. Then change the maps there, or add your own.

you dont even need to do that,

You just rename the custom map to "Strike_at_Karkand_custom" (or whatever you want).....

When you want to play the custom map, just rename the offical "Strike_at_Karkand" to something like "Strike_at_Karkand_EA" and the custom one back to "Strike_at_Karkand"
