I'm surprised i've seen so little David Gilmour and Roger Waters.

All I have to say is the solo in "Time" and "Comfortably Numb"

Pete Townshend
A legend, and I'm named after him.
Eric Clapton
Been mentioned several times already, and deservedly so.
David Gilmore
Of Pink Floyd fame
Lindsay Buckingham
Of Fleetwood Mac. This is all I need to say about him:

Took me AGES to learn this song, and I don't play it a fifth as well as Buckingham does.

Really? That's pretty cool. My middle name is Dylan after Bob Dylan.

Now about Stevie Ray Vaughn.

He was awesome, no question. Just not one of my favorites.

His brother Jimmie opened for Bob Dylan last wednesday when I went to see Dylan at Mohegan Sun. Played his "Tex-Mex" stratocaster behind his head...absolutely incredible.

Jesus. My apologies to David Gilmour. Saw him and can't believe I missed him.I'd still put him at 11 though.

Fuck me. I've been playing guitar for 25 years and I'm not even sure that what I just saw Tommy Emmanuel do is humanly possible or if that's a hack. Aside from looking like he's having a seizure that's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Jesus. I quit.

only one guy i could think of right away
Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth
The guy is also vocals, but with some of the riffs he plays at times, its all talent to be able to do both at the same time i would say
Closure and Advent - those are probably my two favorite songs from them

*edit* accidently spelled it clsure

fuuuuuccckkk... I just watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lbvSBNL … mp;search= and I am going to get in my car and drive 8 hours tonight from East Texas to Birmingham Alabama to see this guy live.

I've got an hour and a half to shit, shower, shave, find a dog-sitter and get on the road. I am Tommy Emmanuel's bitch. How did I never know about this shit?

Anyone in Birmingham?

Nope.
He makes most of the people listed here look like hacks
Stevie Ray Vaughn is great, but he is a one-trick pony, so to speak.  Many that people are mentioning aren't technically diverse, but since we all love the bands or particular riffs, they make it up here anyway.

Stevie Ray Vaughn is about the only guitarist i can be bothered listneing to.....all that widdely widdely crap......you can wipe my arse with all that

widdely widdely crap......it's meaningless, feelingless crap....what is it?.............CRAP!

Oh....but then there was dime bag.

Read a quote from B.B King and Eric Clapton backstage at some gig and they're watching SRV playing  and B.B King turns to E.C and asks How

do we keep up with this guy? And E.C shrugs his shoulders and says I don't know man ( prolly not exact words).

Where the fuck is Tom Morello in that list? FAIL.

Put him in, one of the most creative guitarists of all time and killer riffs in rage against the machine.
