Previews before Transformers

Before Transformers there was an awesome preview of a movie coming out 1/18/08 (for the ones that saw the movie know what I'm talking about)

For the ones who havn't seen the preview : It starts at a party at nite and you are seeing everthing through a handy cam, well the building shakes (like you are in an earthquake) and you hear a roar, everyone runs up the roof of the apt. building in NYC and it happens again (the building shakes and you hear a roar) then you see another building get a hole punched through it and half of the face of the Statue of Liberty slides down the road
----------- they gave the movie no name (so far) and only advertised 1/18/08

well I did a little digging

I dont know about that, you have to remember that Lost is one of those things that you can't just start watching one day, you have to have been watching the majority of it to actually 'get it'.

If this was a tie in wouldn't it be alienating everyone who hadn't been watching Lost, people would think 'I've not watched Lost so I wouldn't get this and Im not going to get it, so why go?'.

Its more likely that JJ Abrams had a say in when to release it and thought that if both this and Lost came out at the same time they'd both get publicity?

LOST actually has a ton of shit that, unless you're huge fans of the show, you have no idea about.

Advertisements in newspapers for corporations that don't actually exist, an entire book written by a fake author...all sorts of stuff.

I'd honestly be surprised if there wasn't something in here that wasn't related to LOST in some way. It would be something that you'd really, REALLY have to be looking for though...and if you weren't paying attention, it wouldn't detract from the movie at all.

been a lot of people saying that this might be another godzilla project, I doubt it bc the last one didn't bring the numbers like they wanted (espically after all the advertisement they poured in)

That preview was only mildly interesting until it finished and it didn't even say the name of the movie. Everybody in the theater was like "Uh... okay? What was that?" Pretty genius marketing IMO.

JJ Abrams is a god. I know a lot of people don't like lost, but it's like every week he draws me into the show closer. He's also doing a Star Trek movie and that should be pretty good. Tbh, it looks badass just from that one trailer. Really makes you wanna find out what's gonna happen.
