I didn't until I noticed playing on wake that people suddenly phase out when they get to about 200m I can't sit 500 odd metres away now lmaoroflkthxbaiRDMC(2) wrote:

Thought id give this a bump as people were asking about sniper settings the other day
Hmm might was well. I have a 512 ATi x700 and I run on low normally. I normally play Karkand so I have no need to see far, but when I play Wake now I put my settings to what you described in the post yesterday. I was making 400+ meter shots that I didn't know I could do.Dont_be_sS.V2 wrote:

Nice to see these settings work for others too.
I have an 8800GTS (640 version) a 2.8 dual core and a gig of ram but something weird happens when i try to crank up the graphics to its highest. all the map goes weird i.e. everything turns yellow so i can't see at all. I had sorted it out by doing something (i think it was by turning AA off and setting lighting to medium, but i'm not too sure) but is it the 1 gig of ram thats causing this as if so i'll get a 2 gig soon.
ok heres my tip, and lets you see much futher, "simple" if you turn your gun left or right you notice the fog actually go away and you can see places you cant while looking strait at it, now heres the catch even tho you have to look strait at them so the fog comes bk, so you cant see right? well its the oldest of glitches in bf2 even tho they cant be seen there name shows up red in the distance this is when u know to shoot and bam kill, or kill assist .
takes practice, but with some effort your good too pull of shots beyond visual range

Do you have the refresh rate above 60,Noobeater wrote:

this affected me in the game "Arma" when i used 75 refresh rate the screen went bright white and i could hardley see much. hope this helps,
"sidenote" that game has HDR where as bf2 dosent so it maby not apply the same way for bf2.
Yea, I know sorta how you feel...ssonrats wrote:

My card's even worse (I'll try to get the specks later).
All low except view distance, and I max at 20 FPS while in the city. Played that way for 2 years now...
I'm interested in reading those frame rates you're getting - I always (always) get high 80's as a minimum. As to being able to see the Carrier on wake: I'm going to have check now as I can't remember if I can see it from the main Island... Oh, and my card is an 8800GTX (768Mb) and I run with every setting on full at 1280x1024
I have been banned from a server for this:
dynamic shadows:off
But my settings are pretty much the same as SS's.

Huh, how do you get banned for that? That's an option every player has in the video settings. I have it turned off as well.Ilocano wrote:

Ghost Town. Shadow's off with fog means you can still see movement. Same color as the surrounding, but you can still see movement. Center that redtag and Bam!!! But the PB Screenshots look like you are hacking.DSRTurtle wrote:

I have a ATi x1950xtx 512mb with a 5200+ 2.6 Dual Core AMD CPU & 4gig of ram...i get 75 fps minimum i have ALL on HIGH at the Highest Screen rez & DONT have Shadows off, cuz i love grafix, but for sum reason AA doesnt seem 2 do anything at all...its the same as when its off? no smoother? but i can see into shadows cuz i have learnt 2 look there more than other places.
No way my computer can run all those Highs
Ha, you lucky bastards. I have a Raedeon X300. X300. X300.
Man, I hope my 8800GTS can handle all these super high settings you recommend.
lol Effects on low is horrible, Dynamic light helps you see when a gun is shot and where it is, i use thisBlehm98 wrote:

edit: best settings for bf2 really...
if you can handle AA, go ahead and put it on whatever, i just leave it off for faster spawn time and better FPS even though i really get max fps anyway...

revive score! 2 points! lol this thread is just over a year old. i cant decide if its better to make new threads or revive old ones that are full of obsolete information. last time i heard, everything on low except view dist. at 100% and geometry on high gives you the best visibility and performance. BF2 is too dark and shitty looking with GFX on high anyway. ive also heard that dynamic light is good on high but i dont use it. however i wouldnt be surprised if one of the snipers here discovered that u could coax a little more distance out of some of the other gfx options. on the other hand, the OP sounds unsure and this was posted a year ago so i have yet to be informed by this thread. and it looks like the OP is presently banned so we may have to stand by for any closing comments.

Interesting...outside of that, I don't know why you wouldn't want your shadows. I used to play on a crap laptop with low settings and now I play on a nice desktop on high...and dynamic high detail shadows have saved my life more than once, being able to see someone creeping up on me.Ilocano wrote:

Why, because the higher the settings the fewer frames per second you get. When I first played the game I had everything on low. Then I got a 9600XT and bumped things up to medium. I turned a bunch down to get a faster fps and it helped me stay alive longer at the expense of seeing things in the distance. It's a trade off between performance and astetics.Oronisi wrote:
