Alright, this has only been happening for like 3 weeks, but it is very annoying.  for some reason, whenever i run a map with aircraft, i get a C++ runtime error, from the bf2.exe file, and it says 'pure virtual call' or osmething like that, adn then a number for a cell, but i can't remember that...

anyone have any idea what it means, or should i reinstall...

sounds like a case for reinstalling. I had that error once, but I can't remember what I did to fix it.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

is there any way i can reinstall it without having to repatch?
i mean like reinstall it on a different HDD, and then move the files over needed to patch it and such

Just re-install and re-patch. Why are you trying to make life harder for yourself?

If that doesn't help (you still get C++ runtime errors), try removing and re-installing you video card drivers (or installing a newer version (if there is one)).

If that doesn't help, it's re-install windows time I'm afraid.

And, finally, if that doesn't help, it's probably hardware (but this kind of error is more likely to be a software issue).

i have mostly new hardware except for CD drives and HDDs (one new one) so it shouldn't be hardware problems

nah, because the problems started just like i said a few weeks ago, and i don't overclock, and it all started when my brother started his account, so i figure something must jsut have been upset

and it works on any maps other than vehicle ones, which almost confirms it as a software problem

As I said, you'll learn...

But, yeah, as I said in my first reply - it is more likely to be a software issue - do a reinstall and you'll probably find it works.

Whats the actual error code mate? Sounds like you need to update windows, rather than a hardware problem...what are your specs?

Fateless.

alright, it says

R6025
'Pure virtual function call'

above that it has the location of bf2.exe...

and i just reinstalled, but kept the maps from my old install and it still does it, so i might have to just reinstall all the maps or something...

He probably means kept the map folder..

AFAIK it looks like a reinstall mate. Its just buggy code.

Blehm - do a full uninstall and reinstall of bf2. Not just an 'install over the top' reinstall.

i did a full reinstall and everything, and but i moved the mods folder, with the maps in it, into the old folder...

which i guess is where the problem is
i have used macros before, but they don't really work for bf2 that well, the problem started like a week later...
