I don't think these really count as "down to earth" but some, even in my post are in a gray area.S3v3N wrote:

Ghost In The Shell (1995) by Oshii Mamoru, not that Stand Alone Complex crap
BladeRunner is awesome, but I studied it in English earlier this year... any movie studied at school is ruined.
Logan's run...
The day the earth stood still..
Ultraman.

BladeRunner is definityly cool but I prefer the original (with the voiceover) instead of the Directors Cut, and do you think i can find it anywhere on DVD ?
We did the DC version. Our teacher said that they don't sell the original any more.buttersIRL wrote:

I'll go with star wars for the effects and story line... But I think the fifth element is one of the more original contemporary sci-fis.
what about Battlefield Earth
its k nothing too impressive, its not an epic movie like some of the movies listed which revolutionized the genremadmax wrote:

After last night I have to amend my list to include Primer. Though they screwed us by not telling us (SPOILER ALERT - STOP NOW) that the first time we saw Abe on the rooftop, it wasn't the first time through the loop. That was chickenshit. The rest of it was the first time, and that was at the very least the 2nd and more likely the 10th. Bogus cut away in time there... Still a fabulous flick.
They live.
