Anyone wondered if the number of people buying/playing BF2142 has increased? What a fantastic way of not having to support an old game; the stats servers are screwed so people start playing the new version of the same (whos stat servers are fine oddly enough) and forget the old version. Hmm...

- Info on "Stats not updating" ... and "Stats may be back"
I'm not sure this problem is enough for people to go out and buy a sh!tty game.
Already bought it, played one ranked round, and then put it in the drawr, never to be seen again. (If bf2 gets any worse though, i might have to dig it up.)Wr3ck wrote:

I'm sure the guys at intel are furious though, they paid for a new level/advertisement, and then EA destroys the game before the final release.

I wondered the same thing...But I don't know if EA is that smartFathomsDown wrote:

But really I think though at times they do use underhanded marketing tactics, I don't think they would trash their already shoddy reputation to get people to move onto the next game. (But you never know when it comes to EA lol).
I own 2142, have played about 3/4 hours of it. I like it, but BF2 is my game.
Hate to say it. But my stats have been up-dating. But it takes a few days or so.

Last answer to my WTF question to EA (and June 15th Ongoing Battlefield 2 Stats Outage):
Update: As of 6-22-07 we are still working on this issue and appreciate your continued patience. We will update this FAQ again as soon as we have additional information.

What servers do you play on, mine have not updated since this whole fiasco started.-=]NS[=-G.I.Doh wrote:

Next day I fired up BF2 and every server I connected to gave me a ping of no less than 200 each time. I then un-installed BF2142 with no change at all. BF2 was virtually unplayable, plus I kept getting kicked from all the servers for high ping. I eventually had to uninstall every trace of EA software on my system and then re-install BF2 and the latest patch before it would play correctly. I wasted some 40 bucks and 3-4 hours of time trying to just get my existing BF2 installation back to normal. I love the concept and ideas of how BF2 was intended to play but I must admit, being a software engineer for some 22 years, BF2 is an example of some of the sloppiest and buggiest software I have ever seen. The sad part is that I am addicted to it and love playing the game. Kind of like Windows being the sloppiest most ill-conceived, most inefficient operating system of all time but turns out to be the most popular and widely used of all. Also, for the record, one of the major selling points for BF2 was the whole stats recording architecture. Everyone loves playing the game but its an added motivation to keep pushing yourself and your scores. When that is taken away or broken, then the whole game is broken and who wants to keep playing a game that's broken ?
lol, I can't even get through one round, my firewall blocks EA requests, and I'm not turning all those options off just so they can. I've got a bout 5 minutes of play and then it disconnects me, that's probably the only reason I don't play 2142.Tdog2007 wrote:

I actually tried playing BF2142 again last week. I could only play for 30 min before I wanted to hang myself. The game only consists of spraying and random death with no skill. Needless to say the game went straight back onto the bookshelf. I miss BF2 when there was a point to playing....

I love how people say their stas are updating, yet they never have their stats available for people to check.-=]NS[=-G.I.Doh wrote:

Couldnt agree with you more!! 2142 is essentially a sci-fi mod!! Its dogshit. . . .Bonehead[THC] wrote:

BF2 is my favorite game! I have never logged so many hours playing one game EVER. . . .
Now the only reason I play is for stats/ranking up. With that system busted, I havent been playing at all. . . . I keep checking to see if its (stats) back running, but EA is so fucked up, I dont know what is going to happen. Watch em' put out a fucked up patch that fixes the stats, but brings back the famous "crash to desktop" problem!!
I just dont know how EA can treat its paying customers the way they do, and expect people to continue to buy their products. . . . . I love the battlefield series, but I am not buying anymore EA games until they get their act together!
I agree with you 100 percent. I was a serious Doom 3 fanatic until a friend turned me onto BF2. I was definitely impressed with the game play, but what sold me the most was the stat feature. BF2 was the first multiplayer game that I played that actually gave me a reason to stay up late nights. The competitive factor is awesome. Being able to compare your rank and global stats amongst your friends is great. Rank definitely has its privileges. Now that BF2s stat tracker is hosed, I don't have a real reason to play the game anymore, at least not until the stats feature is working again.Bonehead[THC] wrote:

Anyone got the fine print regarding what EA claims it's responsibility to keep stat servers going are?
There's no way their lawyers would let them state (or imply) that they would keep the servers going indefinitely. Just wondering if the EULA or something in their manual says anything.
IF they were stupid enough not to put in writing that they aren't obligated to support stats in perpetuity, then I bet there are some ambulance chasers that would gladly head up a class action lawsuit. End result...rich lawyers, and EA might take customer complaints a bit more seriously, but I doubt they didn't conjure up some fine print somewhere.

What's with the claim that most servers are updating? I've been on a lot of servers lately and NONE have updated.
I was playing on the AlphaDogs server and it updated until just a couple of days ago. Seems like it's spreading? Maybe it's virus like. I dunno just a guess. Why not all of them stop all at once?
