That's a shame, you never like to see stuff like that happen. I'm sure she'll get a fair share of money from the impending lawsuit. I've never been a amusement park type of person, so this doesn't affect me too much, but I must say that from past experience I can agree that Six Flags is very poorly run.
She won't get her feet back though will she. (Assuming they didn't stitch them back on somehow leaving her with no perminant problem

Did anyone see the MythBusters where they had a steel cable whip into a
pig carcass to recreate an aircraft carrier arrestor hook accident?

It barely hurt the pig skin or anything. I wonder how this happened?

I saw that, if I remember right the reason they think it didn't cut through was bc the pig was frozen

well some say the cable didn't whip across the girl...they say the cable was some how wrapped around the girl's ankles and as soon as it apperently went under the car. it tightened it very fast and snapped.

its kind of the similar way they did in mythbusters with the pig  " The pig was cut in half only when Adam tied a cable around it and then tightened the cable."

That, and ankles have nearly no fat content, like the pig in mythbusters, so I'd assume it would be easy to sever her feet, probably at the joints.

I went to Six Flags one time and never went back. The park was confusing, dirty and seemed very poorly run. Cedar Point in Ohio is the best amusement park around for rides, roller coasters...etc. It puts six flags to shame.
funny you say that.... "May 27, 2007: The Magnum roller coaster at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, was shut down after an accident where two trains rolled into each other at the loading station. Three people were treated for injuries."
I was there when it happened and it was a minor bump due to the rain, the 3 people were just fine.

I went to a Six Flags, wasn't fun.  It was so hot and muggy from the humidity.

I don't think I will go back.  People working there wasn't so nice.

Always amazes me how they have all these rides run by people still in high school.

From what I've seen the ride is similar to say a space needle where you ride a platform up a high post.  You face out with your feet dangling below you.  You are then dropped at high speed down the post and stop near the ground.  So my theory is the cable snaps and forms a loop that catches her feet.  The cable is going up the post as the platform is falling...the cable passes under the platform and once the slack in the cable tightens it rips her feet off since the platform continues to fall.

I am not even gonna lie: My brother went on that ride about three years ago and it crashed.  There are two sets of carragies to transport passangers.  One waits while the other goes around.  When it's done it stops short and the other one that was waiting goes, while people get off the carriage.  Basicially the one he was on didn't stop and crashed into the one before it.  He broke his nose on the bar that holds you into place.  Smashed it up real bad had to have five different nose jobs paid for by Six Flags.  I'm surprised they still even run that ride I would never go on it not for a million.  Hell my bro's story is nothing next to this girl's I like my feet.

her fault it was a cable that snapped that took her feet off, find a safety harness that prevents that

Witnesses saw a cable snap before hearing screams of terror.
according to myth busters, a snapped cable won't do this. likely that something else broke off with the cable and did the damage, like a fastening plate, or it snagged her and pulled her underneath the ride.

at too money:

yeah, thats true, but think about this: you have a piece of T-bone steak and you're about to go at it with a nice sharp steak knife. you easily slice through teh meat, and after a little work, the fat splits as well. you hit the bone. you push and you saw and no matter how hard you try you can't get through it. my point? bone is harder to break than fat, which is harder to break than skin, which didn't break on mythbusters.

Actually skin is more durable than bone (in most cases)cause of it elasticity. When people break their bones the only time the skin is damaged as in torn open is if the bone pokes through it (compound fracture)

Yeah, i don't understand why rides are so poorly maintained these days. I mean every day you hear of this kind of shit happening. Fuck 'em, i don't need to pay ridiculously large prices to experience thrill that lasts 10 seconds.
The pay and those fucking waiting lines :\
