C'mon guys....ads for free software that only works if you pay $30-$140 for it? You really should check who is advertising here. Fix BF2.exe advertises a free download which is nothing more than a registry cleaner and will only fix errors if you send them money. This is straight up false advertisement and a waste of time for people that literally have issues with their game. I saw this and thought it was actually free software only to find out they want $$$$. They should advertise free trial software and not FREE SOFTWARE!
I've like... never seen an add on this sight.. ever...

Complain to Google, not BF2S.Greatful wrote:

I have adblock not do its magic on the stats pages; I figure a bit of income for BF2S never hurt
The only advertisements I've seen on this site are on the stats pages, which are controlled by google...and every so often we'll get an adbot on the forums, which gets itself banned rather quickly anyway.
The ads are google and seen on my leaderboard page. I can understand the site making a bit of money through google ads, thats not my issue. The issue is it is false advertising.
There is not one word that defines this as a Free Trial or even just a free scan on the site it sends you to (see below), only says it is a free download and will fix errors.

How is this free and still ask for money to make your download fully functional? False Ad.

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Don't cry that I point out false ads on a site that I visit everyday. This is the junk drawer is it not?2tuff wrote:

I think what 2tuff is trying to say is: Don't click on the ads.
Who really does look at them (let alone download stuff from them) anyway?

Sure I did.....free proggy to fix the registry from an ad on a site that I fully trust. If you go to that site, I'm right. There is no indication that you'll have to pay for it until you scan your system. Waste of time and possible spyware. Not cool. Thx for the link to AVG, forgot about this software thx.Cheez wrote:

General rule of the internet is anything being advertised for free at the top of your page is probably spyware, no matter what site
Congratulations 2tuff. This has been my ONLY complaint and I think its worthy of a forum post.

So then shouldn't your complaint be toward either that website or Google? I don't see what you want us to do about it.Greatful wrote:

Not asking for a resolution people, just pointing it out so others that see it don't download it.ThomasMorgan wrote:

Its clever wording, just says "Free download" and its right. It didnt cost you money to download. No where on the site does is say that the fully functional product will cost you nothing to use.

Perhaps I should just take this site out of my favs then? I post on your forums a couple times and get flamed by everyone on it. Way to make someone feel welcome.
You're really quite welcome.
EDIT: Oh, and by a "couple of times" you mean on one, non-Battlefield 2/2142 related thread?
In that case, you truly are very welcome.

If a BF2 related thread would turn out like this one, not sure I would want to do that. I'd be run off for good.
And btw 2tuff, I have been coming to this site since I heard about it around a year and a half ago. Just haven't posted in the forums.

It's not that, it's that your first thread complains about who we let advertise on the site, as if we had anything to do with it.Greatful wrote:
