I read this article about Global Warming (http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor … 97,00.html)

In it, it suggests that we will probably have a couple of decades of global cooling coming up.

Let's say, hypothetically, that this whole global warming alarm trend catches, and laws are passed. Then, over the next 10 years, the globe starts to gradually cool.

Now all of those who heralded the Global Warming Awareness campaign become heroes, and all of those who said that it's all a natural Geothermal phenomenon become goats...even though, in truth, the Human Caused Global Warming crowd were just fear mongers and those who saw it as a natural phenomenon were, in fact, correct.

Now, what if Al Gore already knows this? Would it be too hard to believe that he may realize the political gold mine to be had by scaring people for acting a certain way, then leading them to believe that certain circumstances were influenced by their decision to listen to him?

Is it not unreasonable to think that the Dems are setting the stage to complete a total psychological carjacking of the gullible Americans (and the rest of the world for that matter)??

Oh please...we all know that the only people who "SCARE" people for political gain are evil Republicans. The kind hearted democrats would never ever resort to scaring the public for political gain. I personally think that the supposed global warming and the follow on global cooling are clear examples of how George Bush is the devil. He clearly has influenced the cyclical patterns of the earth. Amazing how one man can have so much power......

Someone's being manipulated, and it's whoever is buying into this guy's slanted article. His response from Michael Griffin's quote (from NASA) of "I have no doubt . . . that a trend of global warming exists", is "How then is it possible for Griffin to assert so boldly that human-caused global warming is happening?" Did I miss something? How did NASA saying "a trend of global warming exists" turn into a bold assertion that it's human-caused? The author has an agenda and is misinterpreting events to fit his conclusions. This negates the validity of the entire article.

I know about Gore's movie etc. What are you trying to say? Just because Gore is a media whore and got all the attention doesn't mean anything. And whether he is correct about this or not is also insignificant. The fact is that we are polluting and this should have stopped ages ago. Global warming's got nothing to do with it. For every study that shows it's not man made, there's at least one more that says either it is, or it could possibly be. To me, that means that we don't have a conclusive answer and should start taking some preventative measures now, just in case. Surely the Republican party, with their new love of pre-emptive strikes, would be behind this. Let's try to cut it off at the beginning before the climate attacks us with Weather of Mass Destruction!

You might be joking, I am not... you don't know what you're talking about. You claim to be well read, but I see no real evidence of understanding of this scientific issue in what you've posted (post).

1. Global Climate is not Global Warming, OK. Global Climate is dynamic and of course it fluctuates, and we are not talking about the Weather, we are talking broader warming and cooling trends.

2. Global Warming specifically refers to the anthropogenic effect, which is any effect man has on Global Climate, beyond/above any natural trend. CO2 is responsible for about 2/3 of this unnatural (above any other trend) effect.

3. The ability of CO2 to redirect IR radiation back to towards the Earth, towards the lower atmosphere primarily is a well known effect. Known for about 100 years now.

4. There is not really that much debate going on in science as to whether or not this theory has been confirmed in the last 20 years. The idea that there are two sides to this issue - is false. There is no real existing valid science occurring on the contrarian skeptic side.

Sources? Facts? Anything to back this up? Because CO2 is not the biggest culprit in Global Warming, unless you are only talking about the small, insignificant change that humans have had. Methane released from the tundras in Siberia as it defrost in a natural cycle are the leading culprit in Global Warming.
