Somewhat inspired by another thread here (http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=74044), I figured it a good measure of various types of addictions (serious talk; thus the lack of junk-drawerness [edit:but since you move-happy mods thought otherwise, far be it for me to protest]) to computer/video game systems and online communications to weigh it against the hypothetical offer of eternal life.

The first choice, Eternal life [edit: and good health] (without bringing religious philosophy into the decision), is offered as-is. What you do with it afterwards is up to you, so long as you don't use anything more sophisticated than basic adding machines, simple telephones and other low-end gadgets. Worth the sacrifice? The second choice would allow you to continue your habit of surfing the net, playing electronic games on and offline and fiddling around with spreadsheets and whatnot. Who wants to live forever?

Before you consider giving up a great portion of technological vices, consider the fact that you still have to live among societies that depend on them.

I chose the second one. Mainly because I don't think I'd enjoy eternal life.

Eternal Life - but only if my mind and body remained as youthful as they are today.

Otherwise, I'd go for the computer one.

I would take the second one, because my AU$3500-4500 worth of camera gear isn't such a simple electronic device... That being said, if the 'good health' of eternal life implied my tinnitus was cured, then I'd choose that one.

The second one.

I'd rather have a short, meaningful life than an eternity of mediocrity. I say mediocrity because even though the OP description of eternal life meant that you have the ability to do things other than technology (i.e. Sports, people, etc.), I'm sure that in the end (even though there really isn't one) you'll get bored of what you have and eventually begin to regret things. (Technological advances don't help either. ) On the other hand, with the mortality, you don't have time to complain; you're dead.

Eternal life COULD become boring and a real pain in the ass - assuming that our culture, like the Greek ancient world as a highly civilzed culture, will go down in homosexuality...

I want to change my vote.  I thought religious thoughts counted (not living up to my name..)

If you mean eternal life here on earth, I definitely choose computers.  Living forever would suck!  you have nothing to work for...no long-term goals

whats life good for if you can't  enjoy the things you love in life and would you want eternal life  if your love ones are going to die.

Eternal life would get boring after the first 100 years or so. Therefore I go with no. 2

Temporary use of technology compared to unending life?  No comparison there.  Eternal life FTW.

Does eternal life come with a good pension plan.  I don't want to work another 20 years much less 20 million.

Eternal life would really suck once the Sun goes supernova. Not to mention I don't want to be damned to an eternity of watching everyone and everything I love die.

Option 2, hands down.

They would get replaced with new things you love.

And I think we'd be off-planet before the sun went nova.
