I don't understand. My entire house has no surge protectors infact it has the opposite, it's been through loads of lighting storms and nothing has ever happened.

Does your house like, get struck by lightning or something?

Have you tried changing the fuse in the plug? lol

TBH it's more likely to have fried than your TV.

bring it back all you want, as soon as they see the capacitors fried they are going to laugh in your face.......trust me, i laughed at a guy that thought we would take back his $16,000 mits plasma.....he was the dumb ass that didnt use a surge protector.
electronics are crazy like that.

Isn't this exactly what fuses are for?

no, fuses are made for shortcircuits and peakcurrents but due to the insane speed and level of voltage, the fuse just doesn't react fast enough to prevent the peak from reaching your electronics..
sad

sorry about your tv btw
playing the dummy at the store might just work:)

PLAYING the dummy? how hard is it to plug your TV into a surge protector anyways?

I suppose those levels of DC voltage could just jump across a fuse anyway (if it can jump all the way from the sky to the ground jumping over a fuse won't be much of a problem). Much like happened with the first implementation of electricity provided to homes in the UK (they used DC not AC).
