Oh but we are! But wait, without America who would have invented the Computer, and the internet, and Microsoft, Mac, Linux? Who would have invented the nuke? Who would have created NASA and all the wonderfull things it's discovered in the years, who would have made it to the moon? Who would've created the countless number of vaccines and medicinal breakthroughs? How about the modern car? It all stemmed from Mr. Ford. How about democracy in general!? Without America, Europe would possibly still be run by a king!

Do i need to go on?
No doubt America couldn't have made it here without the help of other places (mainly Europe)
Hopefully someone has corrected you in 13 pages, but I'd better do it just in case someone hasn't. The internet was invented by a Brit, and Linux was invented by a Swede. As for Mac's, who cares?
The computer was invented by a Brit, Babbage. The British also pioneered a number of the most important early electronic computers, such as Colossus. The Internet was created by the US (DARPA), but it was not in the form we know today, that was created by a Brit too, Tim Berners Lee.

Who would've made it to the moon? Probably the Russians. Although there are a few European countries whose rocket building expertise leads me to believe they would be quite capable of doing it - France with Arianne and Britain with Blue Streak (not neccessarily using those particular rockets). The modern car was invented in Germany. It was predominantly foreign scientists liberated from Nazi Europe who developed the nuke. Europe was democratic before the US, about 3000 years before. More medical breakthroughs have come from Europe than the US and the top 10 pharmaceutical companies are split evenly between Europe and the US, 5 in each.

Do typical Americans really believe all this sort of nonsense?
The stupid ones do.

Brazil invented the smallest bikinis known to mankind AND we have the women to wear them (and not just on TV...). You bet I'm a nationalist!

Wow...this thread has turned into "I'm better than you"....."we have this..hahaha". Its gone far beyond what the poster of this thread wanted to express and it has turned into a childish tit for tat argument. WHO CARES who has what!!!!!! The poster was pissed about all the negativity posted by people who don't even live or have experienced what the United States is. Every country has its good and bad, every country has it natural wonders or ancient history to be proud of (or not so proud of). Every country is good at certain things and then depends on other countries for other things...that is what trading is about. Yes, since I have joined these forums about a month ago, the majority of the posts here seem to be skewed against America and posted by people who do not even live here and to be honest...its a shame because America has a lot to offer and many people worth talking to and getting to know.

America may not be the "angel" everyone expects it to be and yes America does and will make mistakes, but who doesn't. Like I said, NO COUNTRY is innocent of wrong doing, NO COUNTRY can claim to be better or the best and NO COUNTRY can claim that they haven't made mistakes or never will. With all the different religions, histories, cultures and hate in this world...there will always be wars and there will be mistakes. I will say this, America does try to do the right thing whether you want to accept that or not, America is very generous when it comes to helping out in charity or assistance in natural disasters no matter what that countries policy towards us is. In fact, a few years ago, when Iran had a couple devastating earthquakes, America gave more money than anyone to help out. I believe most countries want the right things done and a few rogue states ruin it for the rest of the world, but that is the world we live in.

All I ask as an American is when you post something about America, please remember all the people around the world we do help and remember all the people right now, as we speak, that are being oppressed, killed, controlled by their governments. Like I said before, there is so much more worse going on in this world right now, committed by governments and people that is far worse than someone possibly being tortured in Gitmo. Genocide is going on right now, concentration camps (North Korea) is happening right now, christians killing muslims and muslims killing christians and muslims killing muslims is happening right now(and I'm not talking about Palestine or Iraq) but I rarely see criticism or discussions about those things. There seems to be a fascination with posting whatever bad news there is about America that someone finds. Seriously, look at the big picture.

Thanks. That's what I really meant. Be a nationalist. I don't care. Just stop abusing U.S. America and other countries, and referring to the people of certain countries as a whole.
