Id been reading a few posts in here prior to installing it, first impressions are good. I think the Cobra is a better weapon now, i love using it on vanilla cos i can seat switch (and fly it well for able gunners) and i know its limitations. But the PR version just seems to be correct, oh and with a gunner cannon that doesnt fire kittens like the vanilla version.

Anyhew.....id like to hook up on some good UK/Europe based servers with some like minded players. I know UKE had/maybe still have it but im banned there (old(er) men dont like gettin beat on their own server). So i would be happy to play anywhere and will inform my clan of the details.

P.s. which maps are deemed the best for infantry work?

Yays, best for infantry? - Helmand Province, Al Fallujah and Op. Ghost Train if you want it based around mainly infantry play

Make sue to visit the Bf2s server, iGi and Thors Brigade they're very good

I suggest downloading the 0.6 beta, because a LOT changed in it from 0.5. Most people play Al Basrah because it has room for infantry and vehicle fights. But in version 0.6 it is Britain vs. Insurgents and there are no planes, but there are Apaches. As of now though some of the best infantry maps imo are Mao Valley and Operation Phoenix.

Thanks guys, i posted the BF2s PR server at my forums. Im sure my clan and i will connect to it later on. I will look at the beta, apaches sound amazing

If i do use the 0.6 beta, how much am i restricted to using other PR servers?

for infantry play, op ghost train only has jeeps and a transport heli for both sides, and is an awesome map
mao valley only has a scout heli for each side and again a beautiful infantry map, helmand is a bit weird again only a few jeeps but a great map

Yep it installs it self like a completely different MOD so you can run which ever you want.
I recommend you try the "insurgency" gametype in 0.6

And all maps except the 2 huge new ones (kufra and kashan) are mostly infantry combat. Those that have armor have maximum of 2 tanks and 2 APCs per side that have very long respawn times. So its never tank whoring. As someone said above best servers, when populated, are BF2s, iGi and Thors. There is usually one or two "VOIP" or "teamwork" squads in both teams so try to join those.

And of course make sure you read the guide watch the videos and try out the hardware (tanks, jets, APCs...) on a local server first.

They screwed up basrah in .6 It's only insurgency game mode now, The kits are'nt as fun to play anymore(Other then civilian) And jihading is not as much fun anymore. What they did get right are the weapons for the UK team are way better for city combat then the US were, And the Merlin is an awesome chopper which can carry more then 8 people if you know how.

I went on a server last night ' it was the clan TG .
They were kicking people for not taking orders from there squad leader. I found this to be a refreshing change to squad leader & squad member relations in bf2.
Long matches , but lots of fun!!!

They didn't exactly "screw up" Al Basrah for 0.6. AASv2 on that map was pointless. Insurgency is the best way to go on that map and it actually makes the insurgents an actual insurgency in the city.

And I can't even find the 0.6 beta.

pr_0506 is the latest 0.5 version.

Hm, it won't let me install the 0.607 beta.
Gives me a 404 error and when I try to download from FileFront, it says 'access is forbidden' or something like that.
