Sony's Resistance Fall of Man featured Manchester Cathedral on one of its levels, and the Church of England are considering legal action.

"The game, which has sold more than one million copies, shows a virtual shoot-out in the cathedral's nave in which hundreds of soldiers are killed."  Hundreds of soldiers??  I have got R:FoM and I could swear that about three of your virtual comrades are killed, talk about being over dramatic.

The Bishop of Manchester said that the use of Manchester Cathedral was "Highly Irresponsible, it is well know that Manchester has a gun crime problem".  For fucks sake, killing a bunch of aliens on a computer game does not give me the inclination to go shooting up the the Cathedral of any part of the city.

"We are shocked to see a place of learning, prayer and heritage being presented to the youth market as a location where guns can be fired"

"Every year we invite hundreds of teenagers to come and see the cathedral and it is a shame to have Sony undermining our work."

Is it me, or do the Church of England need to get off their fucking high horse and lighten up?  They are going on as if Sony has raped the pope.

Sony vs. the Church, an epic battle in the making

Seriously though, Sony won't lose if they get sued. Not with their lawyers

"...encourage people to have guns battles in the building is beyond belief and highly irresponsible."

lol... I play a video game and one of the levels is in a church.... I now feel that it is okay to have shoot outs at my nearest cathedral

After I learnt in Primary school about Henry VIII setting up the C of E so he could divorce easier, I cannot see for the life of me why anyone takes anything they say seriously!

Why should Sony take any notice of a Curch that still upholds levys on property from Henrys time, and expects the property owners of coughing up hundreds of thousands of pounds for a new church roof! The fucking bastards!

Didn't you know - all the soldiers in the Middle East are there because they played too much BF2 - they would have gone into China as well, but the China maps are all really crap.

Sure, if its good for anyone its good for Sony.  "Bad publicity is good publicity".  There will probably be a surge in sales if anything.

ok, if we tied them to a pole and burnt them alive would the church feel better about that?  is it really so hard to believe that an occupying military force would take a strongpoint such as a cathedral? fuck people are stupid

phhft i just hate it when people claim that video games will make you become an expert killer. First of all you have to get the rifle, second you have to take the safety off (i now alot of game bashers have no idea that on a gun there is a safety and you must take turn it off) , third the angle of the guns held in fps games if done in RL is just bad, strange, and uncomfortable and fourth reason----> OMG no crosshair. and of course RL= real recoil.

ok.....learn ur history. The church of England was the first main country in Europe to break away from Catholicism as its major religion. The King went against the Pope and married his wrench or something. Hence, England wouldn't care per say about the Pope, cause he doesn't influence them as much as he would...lets say Spain or Italy.

Its another of the Churches attention ploys cos basically no-one gos anymore, remember what happend with the Da Vinci Code and how much they sparked up about that. They should put out an update for R:FOM, although they can't really do it with consoles, in which the Bishop of Manchester is an alien in the cathedral.

Oh yeah and look at my sig. Retards. Did you hear any complaints about Vegas? Hell, they probably advertised the damn game all over the place. Maybe even in casinos.

Timesplitters 2 had a gun battle against zombies in the Notre Dam, and I don't remember legal action there either.
