I have an old computer and i want to know if this would help i have 1GB of RAM and i have a 1.83Ghz processor and a Nvidia 5200 (OLD) so if i upgrade my processor and Card will that help lag and also allow me to play on higher graphics? (I run it on low)

You might want to consider upgrading completely, new card, processor, and ram, as it might be more worthwhile.

However, if you did want to keep your current board and processor, upgrading your ram and graphics would mean you would be able to play the game on higher quality.  However, ram is often dependent on processing speed, so if you got a reasonably fast set of ram it would not mean it would be faster for your computer.

In the long run though, if you play often, it would be worth a complete upgrade.

Recommend:
AMD 3800+
and mobo with 939 socket PCI express.  With most prices you can get away with buying it for about under £300.  Then your ram, and graphics which you could get for about under £300 as well, unless you go for a high end card.

Hope that helped a little.

Upgrading your PC will only help with lag if it is graphics lag.  Make sure you are connecting to low pinging servers.

And don't bother trying to play SF without a better machine.

Wow that is old....

Nvidia Nforce4 m0bo with 939 socket, PCI Express 16 x2, x4 184pin mem slots, and Amd 3200+ Processor = $250.00 USD
Nvidia 6800XT 256mb PCI Express = $160.00 USD
2 Gig Cossair dual channel memory = $194.00 USD

Online gaming experience = Priceless......

brother you need to save some washingtons and upgrade to lose that lag...

upgrading is always a good thing.
I would do the card first. that 5200 is horrible for bf2.
as for the processor im assuming u have either a socket A or 478. upgrades on these processors are annoying cause its hard to find what u want at a good price since they are so outdated.
I would do the card first then look around for a processor if your not satisfied with the performance.
BTW updating the ram to 2 gb for a 478 will help alot with performance. but if its socket A go for the processor upgrade.

i would save some cash if your going for something highend get this :
Geforce 7800 gt=300+
2gb of ram=100-300
pentuim 4 processor or higher.=no clue
lower end to run the game on med no lag
geforce 6800=200
1gb of ram=50-100
pentuim 4 or higher

i would by a processer with 3.00ghz or higher thats just me
(a little of topic but i am getting a 256 mg DDR ATI Radeon X1300 Pro instead of the geforce 6200 w/ turbo cache) which one is better?

I just uped mine with an aditional 2gb mem. Changed a lot!!! But for the vid card Im debating either the "ASUS EAX850 pro"  or the "ASUS EN7800 GT"
Only difference is a $150,- and 4 pipelines and some hertz in thier memory and speedz.

WHAT 2 GET?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also, computer nerds told me the AMD64 I have is only clocked 2.2 ghz, but is equal to any P4 of 3.0 ghz in power and whatnot......whats you opinion?

Oh yeah, my current HD only has 2mb cache, a 16mb chace will be installed shorty, Ive been told that was the weak link in my system, u agree?

look, your processor is fine for now, RAM as well, try getting a new graphics card a nvidia geforce 6800 gt or gigabyte tech. might do the trick. ohh yeah, what make is da processor, depending on what type, if its an AMD then youre fine, if its an intel pentium 4, CHANGE NOW. get an amd athlon 6400 3500+, theyre good and will alst you long also theyre not expensive

none of them, you want a nvidia or the latest radeons. ohh yeah and the nerds are right, even if its 0only 2.2ghz it clearly surpasses the performance of the intel 3.0ghz. go onto http://www.tomshardware.com/ and you will see there

I'm buying 512MB RAM in adittion to existing 512MB RAM.
How do I differentiate between graphic lag and not graphic lag??
