Security. The salary is part of that. I don't want to be homeless and poor. That has less to do with my salary and more to do with my desire to be secure in life.

I put achievement since its the closest to the real reason - I like what I do and Id probably be doing it for free for fun, in fact I still do it for fun when im not working.
I work because my girl makes me...
and I believe all people should have a job...
I chose work conditions...
I work at a bowling alley, at the front desk and as a bartender...
At most times Im on my elbows bored... coz only 2 people are bowling... no motivation...
But when cool people come in that Im glad to see, I get motivated to make sure they have a good time there...
I work coz I have to, and when Im not Im playing games...

Sound to me more like you're motivated by "Relationship with peers / subordinates / supervisor" since that's closer to customers than anything else.HeavyMetalDave wrote:

Okay, time for the answers:
Frederick Herzberg proposed the Motivation-Hygiene Theory, also known as the Two factor theory (1959) of job satisfaction. According to his theory, people are influenced by two factors:
Satisfaction, which is primarily the result of the motivator factors. These factors help increase satisfaction but have little effect on dissatisfaction.
Dissatisfaction is primarily the result of hygiene factors. These factors, if absent or inadequate, cause dissatisfaction, but their presence has little effect on long-term satisfaction.
Motivator Factors
Achievement
Recognition
Work Itself
Responsibility
Promotion
Growth
Hygiene Factors
Pay and Benefits
Company Policy and Administration
Relationships with co-workers
Physical Environment
Supervision
Status
Job Security
Those of you (the majority) who put that Salary motivates you will convince yourselves that you are driven by money, you will be certain that this will make you happy. Sadly humans always want more money, even John D Rockefeller said that he wanted "Just a little bit more" at the height of his success! And since few of us will ever be rich (depending on how u measure that) we will therefore be unhappy unless we accept that money will not satisfy or motivate us.
The absolute best motivator is Recognition. When someone realises that you've done a good job, whether that be by verbally thanking, writing or just nodding/smiling at you, it often makes all the hard work worth while.
For those of you who still think that money motivates, ask yourself this. How much money would be enough? Because if you can never achieve it, how can you be motivated by it? Why are you motivated to play BF2? Is it the money? lol. Is it the status? I doubt it. I'm sure it will be the achievement, recognition, advancement or 'work' itself.
Let me know what you think.
