Well me and my friend (Fredrik) are going to Amsterdam this summer.
We have never been to Amsterdam before, and we're wondering where we can find the best coffe-shop, and the best hotel?
We just want to have a good time over there. But we just dont wanna sit in a coffeshop for a week.
Where should we go and what should we explore?
Does anyone from Amsterdam wanna be our guids???

don't recall a Hotel atm... might get at you on that.

well maybe Museums (Anne Frank, Rembrandt, van Gogh) dunno if you're into that.......

the rasta baby, close to central station, avoid the tourist trap coffee shops... ie the grashopper. plenty of nice hotels in that area.

also whats wrong with staying in hostel there? just make sure you can get one with your own bathroom. i found one next to the police station near the grashopper and it was nice.

The Hague is crap though, plus I live in Amsterdam. And as a bonus, I'm not Dutch!

You'll want to be somewhere around Leidseplein/Rembrantplein as that's where all the bars/coffeeshops are.

The Hague is less Touristplace which makes the feeling better... but then again, it's not like when you're somewhere else you're trapped there,

hey.
thanks for the feedback me and fredrik was talking about going when Easter was but i had to work and had only three or four days off job. so "that went in the sink". and yeah we may go to the museums and take a look. we really wanna try to "see" the city. I always watch the discovery channel when its about the Netherlands. Its very weird to thing about your country that if your "damns"(not sure about the English word). the thing that's keeping your country from being flooded with water. half your country is a few meters under the ocean. Its is really cool how your engineers can keep the ocean away

i stayed in a hostel when i went to the 'dam. turned out we were sharing bunk beds with six strangers. my bag was too big to fit in the locker so i could'nt lock it in lol. and to top it off i somehow managed to forget my sleeping bag and ended up having to sleep with my clothes on lmao. also i ended up having chronic heartburn because of the huge amounts of drinkin and smoking i did .

dunno if its still open but i quite enjoyed the 'boom chicago' comedy venue thingy. almost got kicked out for making too much noise tho lol.

been meaning to go back for ages but i keep spending all my money on beer and stuff.

the only thing I'm worried about is that when we are going home and the plane lands on Gardermoen we might get an "ass check" for drugs..... the guards in Norway almost always checks people that has been in Amsterdam...

you should have seen me when I went to Tunesia (they must love Holland for the Drugs Law (not)) was almost stripped naked 4 times....
