It should quickly be legalized. The only effect of the criminalization is the mistreatment of women. This subject strikes a nerve for those from Vancouver, and those who have heard of Willie Pickton or the Highway of Tears. Of course, in Canada, prostitution itself is not illegal, but offering such services publicly or, essentially, being a pimp. These do not protect prostitutes, though.

i cant speak for the rest of the world but i do know that in Canada prostitution is quite a grey area.. escorts agencies are legal and if a girl wishes to become an escort she actually has to apply for some sort of license.. now street level prostitution is a huge problem here (vancouver) because of the overwhelming availability to drugs, there is no way of tryin to regulate the actions of a junkie so its a lost cause on the street level.. which is a sad thing because these women/kids will always be disposable victims
