Me and a friend was playing BF2 earlier today and we got talking about our system specs and he has a 3.6 and i a 3.4 etc etc, we both have very capable systems to play this game..well anyways we ends up moaning of the horrible fps drops, well i'll be more specific, while i was sitting in the blackhawk i was looking around admiring the view and i would look at the ocean...good fps, i would look at the ground...good fps and then id look at another patch of land and the fps would drop from 40-50fps down to exactly 15 fps and i would look away and it goes back to normal, same again i look back at the same area and sure enough 15 fps again.

So does anyone have any ideas of why this is happening and how to fix this?

How many players were on the server? Looking at areas with high player density makes for lots of lag even if you are a backed off from it. It would have to be more then 3-4 players though, I'm talking like 10-20 in that area alone.

I've heard of black spots on maps before. Places where you lag, each and every time, for pretty much no reason. Maybe just avoid looking there?

Never heard of em, and they are spots that everytime i look at it, it will drop to 15 fps, but when i die its another spot and does the same thing.

And too the other posts, it was a 64 player full server..BUT ive played these before in the past and it was very smooth on exact same settings and everything, and then it just started randomly after quite a long period of not playing bf2.

I must have been hiding there.

I'm so awesome that I cause low FPS which forces you to look away while I shot you in the back of the head.

Kidding.. never had that happen, just really shitty FPS in general when my card was fucked.
